Comfort the Spider by Raven Fagelson for EGA's 2026 Fiber Forum.

Artist statement: "This artwork is about stepping outside one’s comfort zone. It was not easy to stitch. Needlepainting is one of the most complex styles of embroidery, requiring skill with color pencil, and needle. And then I chose a subject that few would recommend: a male Maratus pardus. Yet, one should stretch the boundaries of comfort and art.
This is not a comfortable piece of embroidery, not in its making nor in its finish. Friends refused to look at it. I struggled to stitch it. I hoped I might be comfortable stitching a dancing spider. I wasn’t, which was the point."

We're seeing more and more 3D embroidery cross our feeds, so it feels like a good time to remind stitchers that we have a really fun, beginner-friendly 3D embroidery project perfect for summer stitching!

Dianne Stauber's 3D Koi Fish Pond is stitched on three separate embroidery hoops with different layers of tulle that showcase embroidered rocks, koi fish, and lily pads. https://egausa.org/surface-embroidery-3d-koi-fish-pond-stitchalong/

Due to the popularity of The Seahorse Purse, offered by Holly Bean, two additional openings are being added to the class. Won't you join us in Orlando for this unique accessory? This class sold out within hours when registration opened, but the teacher was able to find supplies for these two additional openings. If this class appeals to you register soon as we anticipate these openings to fill quickly.
