Update from Geneva, 4/21:
Please keep Tim in prayer as he is on the schedule to undergo both a liver biopsy and a venogram/angioplasty later today. After the original plan for discharge last Thursday, Tim’s liver function labs suddenly started to climb. They have been treating him for presumed cellular rejection, which means that although the liver itself is working well, his body is fighting the new liver. They put him on a high dose IV steroid regimen in hopes his liver functions would come down but unfortunately they have only continued to climb every day. The transplant surgeons want to do a biopsy as it can give them more specific details as to what is going on - if this is actually rejection or something else going on with the liver.

Please continue to uphold our family in prayer. We feel discouraged as Tim’s now been in the hospital for 2 weeks and already running into bumps in the road. Pray for wisdom for his transplant team and that there would be a clear path to getting what’s going on under wraps and that he would be able to be discharged soon. Please also continue to pray as the kids and I are relocated here in Maryland during this and that our family could all be together soon!

Tim continues to make great progress in his recovery! As you can see in the photo, he was able to get outside today for the first time in a week, and he may be released as early as this weekend. Thank you for your ongoing care for this family through your prayers and generous support of the GiveSendGo fund (https://v2.givesendgo.com/liverfortim). A fund has also been established through his church, New Hope Presbyterian Church - Bridgeton, New Jersey, for those who would prefer to send a check. Some of your donations are being used to rent a home near the hospital so the whole family can be together during this recovery period. This will not only help with the frequent hospital visits and follow-up care, but will also be a real encouragement to Tim—having his family close by will be an important part of his recovery. We are humbled and grateful to all who have given gifts and lifted the Milchlings up in prayer. God is graciously answering your prayers. Please continue to pray for Tim as he recovers, as well as the family as they settle into their temporary home away from home. Thank you so much! ❤️

We’ve gotten a few questions about using GiveSendGo (https://v2.givesendgo.com/liverfortim) and whether fees are being taken out. We completely understand the concern and wanted to offer a quick clarification. GiveSendGo itself does not take a platform fee, though there are standard processing fees (similar to any online transaction). Many donors also choose to cover those small costs, which helps ensure that as much of each gift as possible goes directly to Tim and his family. We want to say how deeply grateful we are. The outpouring of love, prayers, encouragement, and generosity has been overwhelming in the best way. It has been such a tangible reminder of how the Lord cares for His people through His people.

Update on Tim: Part 2 of surgery is complete, and everything looks great! The doctors will be monitoring him very closely in the coming days.

Please continue to pray—for good pain management and for strength as he begins what will be a difficult recovery.

Even through it all, Tim’s heart is full of gratitude. Unable to speak because of the breathing tube, he spelled out with his finger:
“PRAISE GOD, WHAT A BLESSING.”

We give thanks to the Lord for His kindness and ask for your continued prayers.

Tim has just been taken back to surgery so doctors can complete the final connections of the bile ducts and close his incision. The surgeons anticipate this portion will take approximately 3–4 hours. Please continue to pray for the doctors and nurses, for endurance and strength for Tim, and for comfort for Geneva and the whole family during this time.

Thank you all for praying! We’re thankful to share that Tim made it through surgery, and things went well overall.
The surgeon said it was a really tough case—there was an abscess near his diaphragm that was extremely close to his heart. By God’s grace, they were able to take care of it, and Tim is now in the ICU. The new liver is already working and producing bile, which is a really encouraging sign. He’ll be going back into surgery tomorrow to finish connecting the bile duct. That procedure should be shorter. Please keep praying for Tim—for strength and stability, for tomorrow’s surgery, and for peace for Geneva and the whole family. We’re so thankful for how the Lord has carried him through this first step.

A liver has become available for Tim and he has been taken into surgery. Please pray for Tim and Geneva, the doctors and nurses and all who care for him. We will update as we know more. Thank you for your prayers!!

03/10/2026

Update 3/10/26: Thank you for praying for Tim and Geneva. After being called to the hospital for the liver transplant, the doctors determined that the donor liver was too damaged to be used, and the surgery will not be taking place. Tim will be headed home soon. While this news is disappointing, they are trusting in the Lord’s perfect plan and resting in His care. Situations like this are not uncommon in organ transplants, so going forward they will remain cautiously optimistic when future calls come. At the same time, they are encouraged to know that Tim remains at the top of the transplant list and could receive another call soon. Please continue to pray for Tim and his family as they wait on the Lord’s timing. They are praising Him in all things and trusting His perfect plan. It means a great deal to the family that so many are praying for them during this difficult time. Thank you!
