Three rounds of Nostalgia Bingo Quebec Community Center today, and the room was full of laughter, memories, and stories.

The clues were fun, but the best moments came when a familiar song, old product, local landmark, or TV memory sparked someone to say, “I remember when…”

That’s exactly what we hoped for.

Nostalgia Bingo is simple by design: easy to play, easy to join, and built to create conversation. Today was a beautiful reminder that connection often starts with shared memories.

This is an opportunity to share your voice, learn how state budget decisions impact our daily lives, and help envision a budget that invests in the well-being of all North Carolinians. Our friends at Through the Trees are hosting Ladies Night this evening in downtown Brevard, where participants will transform recycled computer parts and resin into unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Last Tuesday, we held our first Community Connectors of Transylvania County gathering, hosted by SparkPoint and FWRD Transylvania with support from American Red Cross

Neighbors and trusted local leaders from communities across the county came together to talk about what readiness really looks like in a rural place: clear communication, trusted relationships, and people who know how to help support reach their neighbors faster.

Community Connectors are not first responders. They are the people communities already turn to when information is hard to find and support needs to move quickly.

Through powerful breakout conversations, each community shared local needs, communication gaps, and ideas for strengthening connection before, during, and after a crisis.

This gathering was an important first step toward building a stronger county-wide network of trusted local support.

In Transylvania County, resilience starts with connection.

🐾 Wellness showed up on four paws last Friday.

Voice of the Students hosted “Destress with Dogs” at Brevard Middle School, giving students a chance to relax, reset, and feel supported before EOG testing week.

Voice of the Students is a student-led organization in Transylvania County Schools, supported by SparkPoint, CARE Coalition- Transylvania, and TC Strong. Their work helps lift up student voice, mental wellness, peer support, and real moments of connection.

A heartfelt thank you to Alliance of Therapy Dogs, who brought five volunteers and their amazing dogs to spend time with students. We’re also grateful to the student leaders and Brevard Middle School team who helped make this possible.

Sometimes support is a conversation. Sometimes it’s a quiet pause. And sometimes it’s a therapy dog reminding you to breathe. 🐶

We’re grateful to WNC Bridge Foundation for hosting today’s WNC Bridge Foundation Grantee Picnic and bringing together so many thoughtful, hardworking organizations from across Western North Carolina.

It was good to spend time with folks who care deeply about this region and are doing the steady, often behind-the-scenes work to support their communities. Conversations like these remind us how much wisdom, generosity, and dedication exist across Western North Carolina, and we left feeling energized by the people we met and the work being done.

We especially appreciated connecting with Bounty & Soul, whose work helps address food insecurity by connecting people with fresh local food, wellness resources, and community support, and Heart of Horse Sense, whose equine-assisted programs create powerful opportunities for healing, growth, and emotional connection.

Western North Carolina is full of people doing deeply compassionate work every day. We’re thankful to be in community with all of you.

What a night. ✨

On Saturday, 14 guests joined us for our sold out Gather & Glow fundraiser. We began with Dr. Ora Wells on the bagpipes, then headed into Pisgah Forest to experience the quiet magic of the Blue Ghost fireflies together.

It was a beautiful evening of wonder, connection, and shared purpose.
