This month, Sunshine Creative Reuse is bringing the creativity! We’ll create our own fall-inspired scrap garlands while enjoying conversation, networking, and a little midday fun.

We will provide light snacks and everything you need to create!

We drew our winner! 🎉

29 neighbors told us what it’s really like to get health care in Transylvania County: the long drives, the waits, the people who made it easier. Every one of them was entered for a $100 gift card, and this morning we drew Ticket No. 13, S***.com.

We’ll reach out to the winner at the email address they used when they shared their story. Keep an eye on your inbox (and your spam folder). If we don’t hear back by [Friday, Oct. 23], the gift card goes to our alternate.

30 new collaborations started on a window. 🍂

At The Social Infrastructure of Rural Health on October 1, every participant filled out a Connection to Action card before they left. Each card named who they had connected with, what they wanted to explore together, and one concrete next step.

By the end of the day, 30 new cross-sector collaborative groups had formed. Healthcare, food access, transportation, faith communities, local government and nonprofits are now working together toward better access and care for rural communities.

Connection isn't a soft outcome. It's infrastructure.

Thank you to every partner and participant who showed up, walked the system with us, and put their name on a card. Now the work begins.

Two years ago, Hurricane Helene changed our community in ways we will never forget.

Today, as we mark the second anniversary, we’re reminded that recovery doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen alone.
We are so proud of our partner organization, FWRD Transylvania, and the incredible work that has been made possible through the dedication of organizations, volunteers, funders, and community partners across Transylvania County and beyond.

Over the past two years, we’ve seen what is possible when a community comes together, neighbors helping neighbors, organizations working side by side, and people continuing to show up long after the immediate crisis has passed.

There is still work to do, but there is also so much to be grateful for. We’re honored to continue walking alongside FWRD and our many partners as our community recovers, rebuilds, and grows more resilient together.

Next Thursday, October 1, we’ll welcome leaders, partners, and community members from across Western North Carolina for the 2026 WNC Regional Rural Health Convening. As we get closer, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible sponsors whose support is helping make this day possible.
