SSTC's 2026 early childhood education staff needs assessment survey found that 70% of early educators in Transylvania County currently hold an ECE certification or a college degree, yet only 12% are earning above $20 an hour.

Fair pay for early educators is essential to attracting and retaining qualified staff in the ECE sector. SSTC currently offers a variety of wage supplement and bonus programs for ECE staff. Learn how to qualify for each of these programs by visiting our website.

Jump Start to Kindergarten is a summer “day-camp” that provides an easy pre-k to elementary school transition for rising kindergarten students.

Jump Start gives children the opportunity to meet their teachers and classmates and learn new school routines through fun and educational activities. The program is offered in all five local elementary schools and is cost-free to families.

FFN providers meet monthly to network with other providers in the community, participate in chats surrounding child care, and work together to advocate for better resources and support for home-based caregivers.
