Backlight Productions offers weekly classes in theater, music, and dance for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Providing opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain education in the arts and perform significant roles in integrated performances Each class provides quality training in the arts and challenges students to reach their full potential then gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in professional-quality productions alongside, and with the support of, industry professionals. At Backlight, individuals with IDD learn valuable skills and develop broad experience in the arts. The opportunities provided at Backlight create purpose and community, enhance social skills and help students grow in confidence both on and off the stage. A backlight is a light that shines behind a performer to keep them from blending into the background. At Backlight Productions, the community is given the opportunity to come behind artists with IDD and offer whatever skills and support they can give to help see people of all abilities on the stage.

Back in Summer 2024, Backlight Productions brought a completely original, full-length musical to life. From the ground up, this show was a massive labor of love, featuring original songs written by Backlight Songwriters and a script crafted by Backlight Playwrights. 💕

The Backlight Gala Silent Auction includes a Joint Revocable Living Trust Package, generously donated by former Backlight Board Member Laura Baxter of Baxter Estate Law, LLC. The package includes a Joint Revocable Living Trust for a married couple, Pour-Over Wills, Durable Financial Powers of Attorney, and a deed transferring the family home into the trust.

This is a practical opportunity to get important estate-planning documents in place and make sure your wishes are clearly documented.
