They’re so helpful

05/22/2026

That’s the reality of rescue.
So many of these horses came to us scared, neglected, discarded, or forgotten. They didn’t need perfection. They didn’t need ribbons or attention. They just needed kindness, patience, and a safe place to land.

And watching them learn to trust again changes you.

If our mission speaks to your heart, please consider supporting our rescue. Every donation helps provide feed, hay, medical care, fencing, and a future for horses who deserve a second chance. 🤍

What a weekend here at the farm. Busy, productive, and so worth it 🤍

We added several new wood fence sections to TJ, Lucky, Maple, and Ella’s area to give them a larger paddock to enjoy. We also moved round pen panels to temporarily make Eloise and Lola’s area bigger until we’re able to put permanent wood fencing up for them.

The grain bins were filled, hay was stocked up, and work continued on the memorial garden. Flowers were planted, rocks were moved, and little by little it’s becoming something really special. 🌸

There’s always something to do at the rescue, but weekends like this remind us how much love, hard work, and support goes into keeping this place running for the horses we love so much. Thank you to everyone who helps make it possible. 🐴

Fencing project as of Thursday!

We have been making so much progress, and it is making more room for our favorite escape artists. You can donate to help this fencing project go faster on our website (link below in the comments).

Looks pretty in the saturated light on a rainy evening! What does everyone think?

Happy Mothers Day Everyone!

Part of rescue is the possibility that some of them might be with foal. Our goal is to save lives, and that means we occasionally get two for one.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to watch Eloise be such a good mom to Lola, just as Penny has been for Lucky.

What sweet cuties!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Volunteer Appreciation 🤍
We want to take a moment to celebrate Ane Kellarm, who has now been volunteering at LSO for over a year.

Week after week, Ane shows up with a kind heart, a willingness to help wherever needed, and so much love for our animals. From the quiet, behind-the-scenes work to the muddy, hands-on moments, her dedication never goes unnoticed.

Our rescue truly would not be the same without volunteers like Ane. We are beyond grateful for her time, compassion, and commitment to our horses, donkeys and of course the mules!

Here she is working with Maple man who when he first came to LSO was TERRIFIED of humans. He’s slowly gaining trust with Ane’s help 🩷

Thank you, Ane, for being such a special part of the LSO family 💕🐴

Forgot to post these pictures the other day. It was a full moon on Friday, and so beautiful! The phone camera didn't do it justice as it rose through the lovely evening sky, but here they are 🩷🩷
