A backpack may seem like a simple gift, but for a child in foster care, it can be a reminder that they are seen.

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing students and leaders of Middle School VBS for putting together 90 of these incredible backpacks filled with school supplies for the children and families we serve.

Your generosity and kindness will help equip kids for a successful school year while reminding foster and adoptive families that their community is standing with them.

We are excited to hand these out at our Family Fun Summer Event on Monday, June 29th, and we know they will be a blessing to so many families.

It takes a community to support vulnerable children and the families caring for them. If your church, small group, Sunday school class, youth group, business, or team is looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, we'd love to connect with you.

It's easy to look at a number and move on.
But these aren't just numbers.
These are children.

Children sitting in classrooms next to your kids. Children standing beside you in the grocery store. Children playing on local ball fields and playgrounds. Children whose stories make the evening news and countless others whose stories never will.

As of May 2026, there are 13,735 children in foster care, kinship care, or other out-of-home placements across Florida. Right here in our community, there are 263 children in Manatee County, 91 in Sarasota County, and 27 in DeSoto County who are navigating uncertainty, loss, and transition.

And attached to every one of those numbers is a caregiver.

A foster family saying yes to a late-night placement. A grandparent unexpectedly raising grandchildren. A relative stepping in during a crisis. Staff members in group homes and shelters working tirelessly to provide safety and stability.

Behind every child is someone opening their home, adjusting their life, and carrying the weight of helping that child heal.

These caregivers deserve support, encouragement, and a community that stands beside them.

That's why Foster the Family exists. To ensure that no foster, adoptive, or kinship family walks this journey alone.

Because when we support caregivers, we strengthen families. And when we strengthen families, children thrive.

Every number tells a story. Every child matters. Every caregiver matters.

A huge THANK YOU to the Calvary Chapel Sarasota Married Couples Ministry for choosing Foster the Family as the recipient of a portion of their ticket sale proceeds from their recent Comedy Night event!

We are incredibly grateful for this continued partnership and their unwavering support of vulnerable children and the families who care for them. Because of community partners like Calvary Chapel SRQ, we can continue providing practical support, encouragement, and resources to foster, adoptive, and kinship families right here in our own community.

🎉✨ Welcome Back, Myrna! ✨🎉

We are beyond excited to officially welcome Myrna Stoltzfus back to the Foster the Family Florida team as our Family Coordinator!

Many of you may already know and love Myrna. She was part of our team when we first launched our support groups in 2022 and faithfully served as our Family Coordinator in 2023. Her heart for foster, adoptive, and kinship families has always been evident in everything she does, and we are so grateful to have her back serving alongside us.

Myrna has a special gift for making families feel seen, valued, and supported. She understands the joys, challenges, and unique needs of the families we serve, and she consistently shows up with compassion, encouragement, and a genuine desire to help. Simply put, she loves our families well, and we know they love her right back!

As Foster the Family continues to grow, we are thrilled to have Myrna's experience, passion, and caring heart helping us strengthen connections and support caregivers in Florida.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member, Andrea Michaud, our new Florida Program Coordinator! We are beyond excited to have Andrea joining our team and cannot wait for you all to get to know her. Her heart for serving families and passion for this mission make her such a wonderful addition to our community.

Andrea was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida, and today her family calls Sarasota, Florida home. In 2010, as a young single mom, she stepped into the world of foster care and adopted her daughter, inspiring a journey that would continue later in her life.

She and her husband got married in 2019 and began fostering in 2021. In 2024, their foster journey led them to adopt four young siblings. Their hearts are guided by God’s calling to care for His children as they continue to foster children and are committed to keeping siblings together during their time in care.

Andrea is passionate about raising awareness of foster care and walking alongside other foster parents. She offers encouragement, support, and understanding, so no one has to navigate the foster care journey alone.

We are so thankful for the way God continues to grow this work and bring the right people alongside us. Help us welcome Andrea to the team!

You don’t have to do foster care, adoption, or kinship care alone. ❤️

At Foster the Family, our support groups are designed to help you feel seen, encouraged, equipped, and connected with other caregivers who truly understand the journey. Each month, moms gather for meaningful conversation, practical support, and video-based teaching focused on the unique challenges of caring for children from hard places.

Whether you are newly licensed, in the middle of a difficult season, or simply looking for community, there is a place for you here.

We currently have support groups meeting across the country, including our 8 groups in Florida. Monthly meetings are peer-led and centered around encouragement, connection, and support for foster, adoptive, and kinship moms.
