October was FULL of impact, community, and so many reminders of why we do what we do! 💛

We had such an amazing month serving foster, adoptive, and kinship families, and we couldn't be more grateful for the people who continue to show up alongside us.

Just look at what our community made possible in October:

✨ 33 FosterCARE packages delivered to children and families welcoming little ones into their homes.

✨ 57 children enjoyed a fun-filled Kids' Day Out.

✨ 63 moms gathered together through our support groups for encouragement, connection, and community.

✨ 20 tickets provided through our partnership with Tickets for Kids, creating special memories and experiences for families.

And beyond the numbers, there were so many special moments this month!

🍔 Burgers & Bingo at Calvary Chapel SRQ was an absolute blast! We loved bringing people together for a fun night of community and generosity.

💛 We also had the joy of kicking off Bethel Baptist Church's donation drive this past Sunday! We are so thankful for their willingness to rally their church family around the needs of foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

🙌 And our friends from Word of Life joined us AGAIN to serve at Kids' Day Out! Their volunteers jumped right in and helped make another incredible day possible for the kids.

We say it often, but it is worth repeating: We simply could not do what we do without our partners. The churches, businesses, volunteers, donors, and friends who come alongside us are not just supporting the work. They are part of the work. They are on our team, showing up, meeting needs, and reminding families that they are not walking this journey alone.

We love our community, we love our partners, and we are so thankful for every person who chooses to show up for foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

Here's to another month of showing up, loving well, and making sure no family walks alone! 💛

We are incredibly grateful for the businesses and churches who have opened their doors and their lobbies to help us collect Christmas donations for foster, adoptive, and kinship families right here in our community! ❤️

These boxes are more than just a place to drop off donations. They represent a community coming together to remind foster, adoptive, and kinship families that they are seen, loved, and supported.

There is something so special about people who see a need and quietly step in to help carry the load. ❤️

A huge thank you to the ladies at Bethel Mennonite Church and to Michelle Miller for coordinating almost a dozen frozen meals and desserts for families who are saying YES to children entering foster care.

When a child enters a home, there is so much happening all at once. New routines, new faces, big feelings, and a whole lot of unknowns. Having a meal ready to pull out of the freezer might seem like a small thing, but for a family in the middle of those first few days, it can mean so much. One less thing to worry about while they focus on loving and caring for a child who needs them.

Thank you for loving these families in such a practical, thoughtful way. Thank you for being part of the village that shows up, not just with words, but with your time, your hands, and your hearts.

We are so grateful for you all. This is what community looks like.

In September alone, 275 children in Manatee County, 89 in Sarasota County, and 24 in DeSoto County were in foster care, kinship care, or out-of-home care.

That’s 388 children right here in our own community. And across Florida, 13,696 children are in out-of-home care.

It’s hard to wrap your mind around numbers like these. So many children and families are navigating hard, unexpected circumstances, and so many caregivers are doing their best to provide safety, love, and stability through it all.

We can’t meet every need or fix every hard thing these children and families are walking through, but we can do something. We can show up. We can care for the families opening their homes and hearts. We can remind them that they aren’t doing this alone.

This is why we do what we do at Foster the Family Florida. We want foster, adoptive, and kinship families to know they have a community walking alongside them, not just on the easy days, but on the really hard ones, too.

And if you’ve ever wondered whether the little things you do to support these families matter, they really do. Every meal, every prayer, every package, every act of kindness matters more than you know. ❤️

There are children and families in our own backyards who need us. Let’s keep showing up for them.

We are SO thankful for Antonio’s Pizza Pit!

As our Kids' Day Out event in Sarasota continues to grow, so does the number of children we get to love on and volunteers who show up to make it all happen. And you know what that means? MORE PIZZA!

Antonio continues to generously provide FREE pizza for our kids and volunteers, and we honestly can’t say thank you enough. Something as simple as a hot meal makes such a difference in creating a fun, welcoming evening for everyone who walks through our doors.

Antonio, thank you for continuing to show up for our kids, support our volunteers, and be part of what makes Kids Day Out so special. We are so grateful to have you in our corner!

Messages like this...

Sometimes I think we could talk all day about why these care packages matter, but then a message like this comes in and says it better than we ever could.

When a child enters foster care, there is so much unknown. There are big emotions, last-minute preparations, and families trying to figure out what a child needs while navigating a situation that can feel overwhelming.

We can’t make all of that easier, but we can help with some of the practical things. We can make sure a child has pajamas, clothes that fit, shoes, and a few things to help them feel more at home. And we can remind the family who said yes to that child that someone is thinking about them, too.

This is why we do what we do. And we are so thankful for every person who keeps showing up to help make these packages possible.

It’s that time of year again… and Winter Wonderland is getting a whole new look!

This year, we’re completely reimagining our Christmas outreach to bring even more joy to the foster, adoptive, and kinship families we serve. ❤️

Through our Winter Wonderland Gift Delivery, we’ll bring Christmas magic right to families’ doorsteps with thoughtful gifts for every child, festive treats, crafts, wrapping supplies, and all the little things that make Christmas special.

But this year, we’re dreaming even bigger! We want to give families more than gifts to open on Christmas morning. We want to give them experiences and opportunities to make memories together!

Our hope is that each family will have the opportunity to receive tickets to a local experience, creating moments of joy, connection, and memories that last long after the Christmas season has passed.

❤️ We’re so excited to be invited to share in the 4th Annual Burgers & Bingo, presented by Calvary Chapel Sarasota’s Married Couples Ministry! 🍔🎉

This year’s theme is Every Story Matters, and we’re so grateful to be part of an evening that brings couples together for great food, Bingo, prizes, and a special silent auction benefiting Foster the Family Florida!

Every child entering foster care has a story that matters. Through our FosterCARE packages, we provide essential items, comfort, and a reminder that they are seen and cared for during an incredibly vulnerable time. ❤️

We’re honored to partner with a community that wants to make a difference! The evening will also include a collection of much-needed supplies for our FosterCARE packages.

9 children. 8 days. 💔

Every package we deliver is a child experiencing a major life change, a family navigating the unexpected, and a kinship or foster parent saying yes to a child who needs somewhere safe to land.

It’s heartbreaking to think about how many little ones are entering foster care and how much change they are experiencing in such a short amount of time.

But we are also so incredibly thankful that we get to be here. That we can show up for these families, help meet some of their immediate needs, and remind them that they are not walking this road alone.

Right now, we have an immediate need, and we could really use your help!

We are completely OUT of shoes in toddler size 12 through little boys’ size 4, including every size and half size in between. When a child enters care, frequently they come without shoes they can wear for school or shoes that are way to small for them.

A little behind the scenes of something very special we’ve been working on. 🤍

We have loved getting to work with Pascal and his team at KwaZulu Creative to capture the heart behind Foster the Family. From filming with foster parents in their homes to capturing little pieces of our day-to-day programming, these days have given us the opportunity to slow down and really listen to the stories of the families we are so honored to serve.

We are incredibly grateful to United Way Suncoast for providing us with a grant that made this possible. Because of their generosity, we get to share these stories with our community in a way that we hope will open eyes, deepen understanding, and remind all of us why wrapping around foster, adoptive, and kinship families matters so much.

And to the parents who welcomed us into your homes and trusted us with your stories, thank you. Truly. We know that sharing your family's journey is deeply personal, and we are so grateful that you said yes. Your willingness to share may help another family feel less alone and may help someone in our community understand how they can show up.
