Halloween is about more than costumes and candy at Heritage Community Initiatives! Our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers enjoyed a special Meet & Treat this week where our administrative team shared smiles and fun moments with them. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet some of the Heritage team who, in addition to our awesome teachers, help make our programs top notch and accessible for everyone. LET’S GLOW, HERITAGE!
We turned down the lights and turned UP the FUN! Heritage, with the support of a mini-grant from APOST (Allegheny Partners for Out-of-School Time) and our wonderful community partner, Carnegie One ( ), hosted LET’S GLOW!

This glowing celebration was part of Lights On Afterschool, the only nationwide event dedicated to recognizing afterschool programs and the important role they play in the lives of children, families, and communities! Our celebration was filled with bright colors, glowing smiles, and unforgettable fun!

A huge THANK YOU to APOST and Carnegie One for helping us shine a light on the importance of quality afterschool programming and the amazing opportunities it creates for our students!

Because when we keep the lights on after school, we help our children SHINE!

What a SPOOK-tacular time we had at the Woodland Hills School District’s Annual Trunk or Treat! The Heritage Team had so much fun bringing our Not So Scary Halloween theme to life! One of the best parts of the evening was reconnecting with former Heritage families and seeing so many familiar faces. It was rewarding to hear of the progress our former students have made and humbling to know that Heritage Community Initiatives played a role in their success. SUPER SENSES, SUPER FUN! Our preschool students had a WILD time participating in the Pittsburgh ZooMobile’s “Super Senses” presentation! Our little explorers discovered how animals use their senses to explore the world around them, find food, stay safe, and survive in their habitats! What a great example of hands-on learning and the power of our partnership with the . A huge THANK YOU to the Pittsburgh ZooMobile for bringing this unforgettable learning experience to Heritage!

Happy Coaches Day! Behind every great teacher is a team of highly skilled educators who coach, mentor, encourage and inspire. Please join us in celebrating Ms. Tiffany, Mr. Freddy, Ms. Courtney, and Mr. Wes for the difference they make every single day! We believe an investment in our teachers is an investment in our students.

Early literacy opens the door to a lifetime of learning, discovery, and opportunity. At Heritage Community Initiatives, our awesome teachers help children develop essential language skills at a very early age, which is one of the reasons we have a Keystone Star 4 rating. And, let's take moment to congratulate our 2026 Share the Fair Winners! Jamir, Hussain, Pierce, Eden, Joy, Warren, Kaiden, Milah, and Carmen were all able to shop the Book Fair thanks to generous shared donations! A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make our Book Fair such a success.!
