Congratulations to Jullian Turner our HOOP co-founder on his amazing work as the Woodland Hills Assistant Athletic Director!!
This is the first school in the WPIAL to receive this recognition.

Athletic director Ty Brown has long believed Woodland Hills has the best athletic department in the country. He's shared that sentiment at awards ceremonies, in meetings with students, and in conversations with parents.

Now he has additional support to back that claim.

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association has selected the Woodland Hills athletic department as 2026 NIAAA Quality Program Assessment recipient. The NIAAA conducts a rigorous process to identify, recognize, and commend school athletic programs that demonstrate excellence in the implementation and administration of high school athletics.

The NIAAA will formally recognize Mr. Brown and the athletic department during a special ceremony on Monday, December 14 during the school day. According to a list of past QPA recipients on the NIAAA website, Woodland Hills is the first WPIAL school to receive the prestigious honor.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE INVESTIGATIONS

At 9:29 pm on July 6, 2025, County 9-1-1 received a report of shots fired in the 10000 block of Frankstown Road in Penn Hills. First responders on scene discovered two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, later identified as 26-year-old Ojanay Pride, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim survived the shooting.

Detectives determined the victims were on the back deck outside a home they were visiting on Frankstown Road at the time of the shooting. Detectives believe multiple individuals opened fire from Calvin Street, which runs parallel to Frankstown Road, before fleeing the scene. Detectives do not believe Ojanay was the intended target of the shooting and continue to work to identify those involved.
