BYP Alum, Robert Grey, now has his own farming operation and is seeking support to continue his apprenticeship program. Robert has first hand knowledge of how life-changing such a program can be for a young person!
Eighteen years ago, Robert Grey got his first real job through a youth workforce program, where he was introduced to gardening and began building skills that would eventually lead him to start Grey’s Bouquets, his own working farm outside Pittsburgh.
Now, Robert wants to create that same kind of opportunity for a new generation. Young people are already gaining hands-on experience at the farm through planting, harvesting, working with animals, helping at events, and learning how a business operates. His goal is to turn those opportunities into a paid, year-round apprenticeship that can continue even during the farm’s slower seasons.
Robert’s fundraiser will help cover apprenticeship wages, training, tools, transportation, program expenses, and farm operating costs needed to make year-round learning possible.
