For our upcoming concert, a comic tale of a musical cat, a confused King, and far too many accountants comes to life through a string ensemble, solo violin, and piano!

The King, the Cat, and the Fiddle was composed by Bruce Adolphe, with a story by Yehudi Menuhin and Christopher Hope. You DEFINITELY won’t want to miss it!

Meet the Artist! Bruce Adolphe is a composer of international renown whose works are frequently performed by major artists, including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Fabio Luisi, Joshua Bell, Daniel Hope, Angel Blue, Susanna Phillips, Anthony McGill, the Brentano String Quartet, the Washington National Opera, the Metropolitan Opera Guild, the Human Rights Orchestra of Europe, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and over 60 orchestras worldwide. He is the author of several books, including The Mind’s Ear: Exercises for Improving the Musical Imagination for Performers, Composers, and Listeners (Oxford, 3rd ed., 2021); Visions and Decisions: Imagination and Technique in Music Composition (Cambridge Elements series, 2023); and Dreaming and Thinking in Music: Exercises for Exploring Inspiration and Imagination in Musical Creativity (Oxford, 2025). Widely known for his Piano Puzzler segment on American Public Media’s Performance Today, broadcast weekly from 2002-2025, Mr. Adolphe is the resident lecturer and director of family concerts for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York. His many pieces for family audiences include Tyrannosaurus Sue: A Cretaceous Concerto; Tough Turkey in the Big City; The King, the Cat, and the Fiddle; and Oceanophony.

Attorney. Cook. Gardener. Traveler. Historic-preservation enthusiast. Lifelong Ferrari fan. And one very dedicated Montana Chamber Music volunteer!

Whether she’s creating beautiful flowers for a donor event, cooking for visiting artists, inviting new friends to concerts, or bringing her thoughtful perspective to our Board of Directors, Jecyn shares her talents generously.

She believes volunteering builds connection and expands what a community can accomplish together.

Chamber Music Piece of the Week: Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzolla! Originally written for flute and guitar, this piece has many different arrangements, as it is one of his best known works. Piazzolla aimed to bring tango music to the concert halls, and he chose the flute and guitar due to their use in early tango music.
