The Bowling Green Business Women's Networking Group October luncheon is almost here, and Phoenix Rising of Kentucky is honored to be this month's meeting sponsor!

β€œThe Rescue Is Only the Beginning.”

Now we'd love the opportunity to meet you in person.

Join us for the October luncheon and learn more about how Phoenix Rising is working to support survivors, educate our community and build partnerships throughout South Central Kentucky.

And most importantly, discover how you can be part of the mission.

πŸ”₯ PHOENIX RISING NEEDS YOU. πŸ”₯

Phoenix Rising of Kentucky is rebuilding, growing and preparing for the futureβ€”and we are looking for women and men in our community who want to help us make a difference.

You don't have to be an expert in human trafficking.

You don't have to have hours and hours of free time.

And you don't have to be on the front lines.

You simply need a heart for helping people.

We are currently looking for:

🩡 Board Members
🩡 Treasurer
🩡 Secretary
🩡 Fundraising Volunteers
🩡 Community Ambassadors
🩡 Event Volunteers
🩡 Church & Business Partners
🩡 Donors & Sponsors

Our board meets approximately once a month for about an hour, and there are many other ways to volunteer based on your time, talents and comfort level.

Maybe you're great with numbers.

Maybe you love organizing events.

Maybe you're connected to local businesses.

Maybe you enjoy public speaking.

Maybe you can help with fundraising, social media, care kits or community outreach.

There is a place for you.

πŸ”₯ You don't have to rescue someone to help change their life.

Sometimes you simply have to be willing to walk beside them as they learn to rise.

Interested in learning more? Come talk with us at the October Bowling Green Business Women's Networking Group meeting.

πŸ”₯ THE RESCUE IS ONLY THE BEGINNING. πŸ”₯

Those words are at the heart of Phoenix Rising.

When a young person is removed from trafficking or exploitation, we might want to believe the nightmare is over.

But rescue can be the beginning of an entirely new journey.

A journey of rebuilding trust.

Finding safety.

Learning their worth.

Healing from trauma.

Discovering hope.

And realizing that what happened to them does not have to define the rest of their life.

That's why Phoenix Rising exists.

We want survivors to know there is a community willing to stand beside them after the rescue.

Not to define them by their past.

Not to see them only as victims.

But to remind them of their strength, their value and the future that is still ahead of them.

That's what it means to RISE. πŸ”₯

πŸ”₯ WHAT DOES PHOENIX RISING ACTUALLY DO? πŸ”₯

When people hear the words human trafficking, they often think about the rescue.

But what happens after the rescue?

That's where Phoenix Rising comes in.

🩡 We support youth impacted by trafficking and exploitation.

🩡 We provide Care Kits filled with practical and comforting items for young survivors.

🩡 We create opportunities and programs designed to remind survivors that they are valued, worthy and not alone.

🩡 We educate churches, businesses, organizations and community members about trafficking and exploitation.

🩡 We build partnerships with people and organizations who can help survivors along their healing journey.

🩡 We advocate for greater awareness in our own communities.

Our role isn't law enforcement.

We don't knock down doors. We help on the healing side.

Because being rescued from a situation doesn't erase the trauma, fear or uncertainty that may remain.

Sometimes the greatest thing a community can say to a survivor is:

We see you.
We believe in you.
We haven't forgotten you.
And you don't have to walk this road alone.

πŸ”₯ MEET PHOENIX RISING OF KENTUCKY πŸ”₯

We are honored to be the October Meeting Sponsor for the Bowling Green Business Women’s Networking Group!

So, who is Phoenix Rising?

Phoenix Rising of Kentucky is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth impacted by human trafficking and s*xual exploitation and educating our community about how to recognize and respond to trafficking.

Our mission is centered around something we believe deeply:

🩡 The rescue is only the beginning.

We aren't the people knocking down doors. We are there for what comes afterβ€”supporting survivors as they begin the journey toward healing, stability, hope and a new beginning.

We also work to educate and equip our community because trafficking isn't only something that happens somewhere else. Awareness, education and strong community connections matter right here at home.

Throughout October, we'll be sharing more about who we are, what we do and how YOU can help.

We can't wait to connect with the amazing women of the Bowling Green Business Women's Networking Group!

Po*******hy, commercial s*xual exploitation, and s*x trafficking are deeply interconnected, but those connections are often overlooked.

In this series, we’ll take a closer look at where these forms of exploitation intersect, how harm can occur across different spaces and platforms, and why understanding these connections matters.

This first post breaks down key definitions that provide a foundation for understanding the issues we’ll explore throughout the series.

Follow along as we dissect where these issues overlap, how they reinforce one another, and why those connections matter.

Barren County man faces 12 felony charges following undercover investigation

GLASGOW, Ky. β€” A Barren County man is being held on a $200,000 cash bond after an undercover investigation led Kentucky State Police to seize electronic equipment and file 12 felony charges involving child s*xual abuse material.

Stephen Alan Wolfgang, 39, was arrested around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, following an investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.

Police said the investigation began after investigators discovered a suspect allegedly sharing images of child s*xual exploitation online.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant Sept. 11. Electronic equipment believed to have been used in connection with the alleged offenses was seized and taken to the KSP forensic laboratory for further examination.

Wolfgang is charged with 10 counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a s*xual performance under age 12 and two counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a s*xual performance under age 12.

All 12 charges are Class C felonies. Under Kentucky law, a Class C felony carries a potential sentence of five to 10 years in prison upon conviction.

Wolfgang was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center following his arrest. As of Monday, Sept. 14, jail records showed he remained incarcerated on a $200,000 cash bond.

His initial court appearance is currently listed for Thursday, Sept. 17.

The investigation was conducted as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children initiative. Kentucky State Police said the state’s ICAC Task Force includes more than 26 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

KSP said the investigation remains ongoing as the seized electronic equipment undergoes forensic examination.

All charges are allegations. Wolfgang is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Dolly Parton’s impact has reached far beyond the stage β€” and we see that impact right here in Warren County and communities across Southern Kentucky, including Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, and Monroe counties.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, children in our region are gaining access to books at an early age, helping families build strong reading habits and giving kids a stronger foundation for learning before they ever enter a classroom.

Want to help grow that impact and put even more books into the hands of local kids?

Thank you, Dolly, for investing in our kids β€” and thank you to everyone who helps continue that legacy right here in Southern Kentucky.
