Colorado’s open spaces, clean water, and fresh air are what make it a great place to live.

Now, a reckless fracking project is putting that all at risk in Aurora, Colorado.

99 wells have been approved without public hearing, one of which is situated dangerously close to the Aurora Reservoir, the source of drinking water for over 400,000 Coloradans.

Comment period ends on June 30th. Join us in demanding that the Arapahoe County Commissioner reconsider the project near the Aurora Reservoir, hold a public hearing and vote, and put the health and wellness of the community above all else.

What would you do with $4.60 extra per month?

By building cheaper, greener offshore wind off the New England coast, New England was on track to save residents $630 million annually on their electric bills by 2030.

Now, as the Trump Administration continues to pay off developers to abandon offshore wind projects and pulls federal funding from others, that future and those savings are slipping away.

Building new renewable energy isn’t just the best plan for the health of our planet; it's the best plan for the health of our wallets.

Times up! Congress' deadline to fast-track repealing protections for Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument has officially come and gone.

Last week the clock ran out in the Senate for the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to be passed with a simple majority vote (51 votes in the senate).

It will now be up against a supermajority (60+ votes in the senate), and they simply do not have the votes.

POW has been in conversation with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and we’ve found common ground on protecting this common ground.

Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is made up of 1.9 million acres of diverse landscape that is essential to rural Utah’s outdoor economy. Opening up this land to harmful extraction and mining is deeply unpopular, and our POW community raised their voices to say so!

For the THIRD time the oil market rejected the Arctic Refuge.

When Congress opened the Arctic Refuge in 2017, they promised it would generate $1 billion, but last week’s lease sale saw only 2 entities bidding on 5 of the 58 tracts: generating just $3.7 million.

No major oil companies or banks took part, proving once again that drilling in the Arctic Refuge is a political scheme not an economic necessity.

Despite their failure to sell off this pristine wilderness, this fight is not over. We are closely monitoring next steps including:

❄️Pushing Congress to permanently protect the Refuge and repeal the mandate requiring future sales

❄️Monitoring seismic testing and industrial plans in the area.

❄️Holding corporations and financial institutions accountable for projects that threaten public lands, wildlife and communities.

Taking public transit is an easy climate win you can incorporate into your daily life.

New clean energy infrastructure is being advocated for and built in cities around the nation. Here are five major US cities that are integrating electric buses into their public transportation fleet. (Shout out to and for converting hybrid-electric ferries… y’all are real for that).

And remember, kids, taking a diesel-powered bus is still a better climate action than taking individual gas-powered cars for your commute.

This is local climate action!

POW community members recently spoke out in support of the Trego Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and it passed! BESS projects allow for clean, green, energy to be stored for use during periods of high demand. Making solar power more accessible and dependable.

The Trego project adds 200 megawatts of storage to the grid, enough to power 40,000 homes for a year in Reno. More than just power though, projects like this one can generate approximately $14 million of economic activity per 5 megawatts, an awesome reminder that projects that are good for the planet can also be good for the economy!
