Captain’s Log 🪵🌱 03/18/2026
Endeavors en Fuego.

We have been testing out the flame weeder more. This time creating controlled burns in the perennial and berry patch..
It’s workin’ like a dang ol’ charm thus far.
The flames cleared the debris of old thistle and bindweed while also scorching any seed that might have made it past fall cleanup efforts. Assuming there is some nutrient additions for the burnt organic matter as well..

- Berries get pruned to ground level during winter months
- Fire is used to clear space for new canes (1-2 times)
- Once canes emerge, continue flame weeding pathways and potentially in-row with smaller blowtorch
- Eat berries..

This might be the time saver we have been pondering on when it comes to fresh berries in our little market garden.

Week 1 with our 2026 crew is in the books! And what a week it was..🌬️ Despite the relentless wind and temp swings the crew rallied and met the challenges. We’ve been using the .ag crop planning software the past few seasons and the crop map is looking tight knit, but the weather always has different plans. Being flexible and adapting to the factors at hand seems to be what it’s all about for us and many growers across the Front Range. So far we’ve been able to keep the plans in motion and we’re looking really nice moving through March.

🌱Captain’s log 🏴‍☠️🪵 02/23/26
The greenhouse has been given new life.
Freshly cleaned, organized and is filling up with spring seedlings. Our cover crop experiments in the ground beds over winter were a success. The ginger will be happy this year. 🫚
We have been working on figuring out the light transmission in the structure for the past 5 years and it seems like we are cracking the code. New transplants look strong and we are ready to nourish the revolution.
Happy last week of February ladies and gentlemen

Yesterday’s final csa share of the season 💛 Members had a choice of winter squash, but all the options are included in the photo. The last pick up is always so bittersweet. We miss our members during the off season! But, I always start getting the itch to deep clean and organize around this time of year, so the end of weekly csa pick ups allows for more time for these sorts of things. It’s definitely been our best csa season so far. I think we’ve finally found our sweet spot after 5 years of anual adjustments and it feels so good to have things dialed in. Stay tuned for info about signing up for next year! 🙂

Cody and I were married 3 years ago today. Together for 13 years, and farming for 9 years. Our life together has been such an incredible adventure thus far. A new chapter began at the end of last year with the birth of our daughter, Ramona. Watching her experience all the wonders of the farm for the first time this year has been awe inspiring. Farming with a baby in tow is teaching us to level up in so many ways, and we’re grateful for every second of this new life with her. We’re sending our love to you all ✨
