This is my friend, Sonya.

We met when I was 13, and our lives eventually took very different paths. Sonya faced addiction, more than 30 arrests, and six years in prison.

Three years ago, after decades apart, we reconnected. Today, Sonya is a leader at SLM and walking in gratitude, humility, and purpose — using her story of redemption to empower women and single mothers coming out of the prison system.
