Supporting foster youth starts with supporting the caregivers by their side.

Through the Y Social Impact Center Caregiver Support Program, families receive practical resources, guidance, and connection as they navigate foster care. And in just two years, the program has grown to support 59 families and 83 youth across South King County.

It's time to "Get to Know Your Y"‼️
📣This month we are featuring our Facilities Director Rakeem Amos! 🍎

Our Facility Improvement Week is coming up on Aug 29-Sept 4, so we thought this would be a great time to meet the guy behind our keeping our facility running smoothly!

➡What was your first experience with a Y?⬅ ⛺
I grew up at the Y and spent my summers at camp, where I learned to swim, kayak, and rock climb. Those are skills I still have today, and I learned all of them because of the Y. My connection to the organization continued as I got older. I became a camp leader in North Carolina, and at just 15 years old, I got my first job as a summer camp staff trainee.
➡Why work at the Y?⬅ 🕊
The job seemed like a great fit. I enjoy working for nonprofits and saw the opportunity as a welcome change of pace from my previous work in business, sales, and construction. More importantly, I wanted to work for the Y and give back to the community that had been such an important part of my own life.
Working for the Y is also a family affair. My brother is a Facilities Director at the Matt Griffin Y.
➡What to know about Facility Improvement Week?⬅ 🛠️🧰
It is going to be awesome. We plan to refinish the gym floor, clean and repair the pool area and so much more. Come back after our branch closure to see for yourself!
