Washington State Fathers Network

Washington State Fathers Network A Powerful Voice for Fathers and Families of Children with Special Needs. We are organized in a loose collection of chapters across the state.

The Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN) is a program of Sherwood and other than Sherwood or WSFN events, information provided is not endorsed by either Sherwood or the WSFN. The Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN) connects men with other dads, resources, information and education, plus opportunities for “all family” celebrations. Focus is on assisting fathers as they become more competent

and compassionate caregivers for their children with special needs. WSFN is the only regional program in the United States and Canada fully devoted to fathers of children with special health care needs and developmental disabilities. Since 1986 it has opened new doors of hope for thousands of men and their families, providing them with support and resources to be effective, nurturing dads. In addition to the WSFN state wide programs, each chapter runs their own set of local activities and programs. You can find the contact information for the local chapters below. If you do not find a local chapter near your location please contact Louis Mendoza ([email protected]) to get the latest information on any new chapters or to discuss options for starting your own.

Virtual Workshop on Zoom

When your child turns 18 years old, they legally become an adult. This is an important time to consider their future, especially if they need additional care into adulthood. It's never too early or late to learn more about how best to support your loved one. Learn more about:

- Developmental Disability Community Services (DDCS) eligibility and services such as Personal Care (PC), Medicaid Waivers, respite care, etc.
- Social Security Benefits (e.g. SSI, SSDI)
- Special Education including Transition Plans
- Employment including School to Work
- Decision-Making: Who is Responsible for Making Decisions about your Child’s Health and Welfare?

After the presentation, we will open up the workshop to Q&A. Get your questions answered. We are committed to accessibility. If you require any accommodations to attend our workshops, please contact our office, all of our workshops are free and open to all community members.
