Emerald Necklace Conservancy Honoring the Olmsted legacy of parks for all, we bring people together to preserve, protect and advocate for the Emerald Necklace Parks. www.emeraldnecklace.org

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is a community-supported non-profit founded in 1997 to steward and champion the Emerald Necklace, Boston’s largest park system of seven distinct parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted to connect over a dozen neighborhoods with 1,100 acres of meadows, woodlands, waterways, paths and parkways. Working with civic and neighborhood partners, the Conservancy strengthens

parks, people and policy by advocating for the Emerald Necklace and advancing access, maintenance and restoration, park stewardship and education through volunteer and youth programs and inclusive public programming. The parks serve as a healing respite from the city, a valuable commuting connector and a community convener for more than one million residents and tourists each year, and have taken on a special significance as a safe and socially distanced destination for recreation and reconnection since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, we're excited to launch our brand-new, mobile-friendly website, emeraldnecklace.org, full of exciting tools to make the Emerald Necklace parks even more accessible. 🌳 Explore the Necklace's parks with our informative, interactive map; discover each park's history and hidden treasures; and learn more about the Conservancy's work in these extraordinary landscapes over the past three decades—and counting!

With this new website comes a new look and feel for our organization—including a new logo that bridges the Emerald Necklace's rich history with its dynamic future. ✨

Our bloom of the week is the beautiful big-leaved aster, Eurybia macrophylla, one of more than two dozen aster species native to Massachusetts! Like many asters, this plant is a late bloomer, with delicate flowers appearing from late summer to early fall. Indigenous peoples, including the Algonquin, Iroquois, and the Ojibwa, utilized the plant's young leaves as cooked greens, or as part of a decoction to treat headaches. Looks for these delicate blooms in wooded areas of the Emerald Necklace, like Pinebank Promotory!
