Welcome to Hudson Street Stoop (HSS) at One Greenway Park featuring HSS's third installation, A Place Like Home by ponnapa prakkamakul!

🌈 Paying homage to the stoops of historic row houses in Boston Chinatown, A Place Like Home is a colorful wooden platform with stepped seating, where neighbors and visitors can sit, socialize, and watch street life. 🫂

🛝 Hudson Street Stoop program is ACDC's rotating public art initiative to transform One Greenway Park into an activated and inclusive neighborhood “stoop.” Before highway construction and urban renewal, the historically significant site of Hudson Street Stoop was once a bustling street where working-class Chinese, Syrian, and Lebanese residents gathered with neighbors and children played. ACDC’s Hudson Street Stoop program rekindles neighborly stoop culture through public art that celebrates Chinatown’s rich history and diversity and makes open green space more welcoming for the working-class residents who live there now.

This project was made possible by our partners and supporters: The Asian Community Fund at the Boston Foundation, NeighborWorks America, New England Foundation for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Sasaki, Sasaki Fabrication Studio, JayWalk Studio, Richmond So Engineering (RSE) Associates, Tufts University, Northeastern University, and our site partners Air Communities, Maloney Properties, One Greenway, and the 88 Hudson Condominium Association.

Lin and the Entertainment Committee spent their summer break helping to organize Films at the Gate. A highlight of their work was the exciting performers line-up that they put together for the festival!

About Summer Leadership Academy: At ACDC’s Summer Leadership Academy, high school students spend their summer breaks to put together Chinatown's beloved Films at the Gate festival. With support of community members like you, the summer program facilitates workshops, mentorship, and field trips, where youth leaders develop their creative and professional skills as they ensure an intergenerational and community-centered festival.

For our next edition of Faces of ACDC, meet Gerald Reiling, the Creative Placekeeping Research Fellow this summer! ✨

Get a glimpse into the work that goes into creating public art & culture to anchor our communities from displacement and cultural erosion!

➡️ Swipe to learn more about the research Gerald completed during his internship to support the future of Hudson Street Stoop. His research serves as a strategic roadmap that will guide ACDC for the future of Hudson Street Stoop after the upcoming installation, A Place Like Home.

📝 Gerald is a junior at Duke University majoring in urban planning. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Gerald currently lives in North Carolina, and enjoys weightlifting, basketball, and thrifting outside of work and academics. Using his previous knowledge in placekeeping work and urban planning, Gerald enjoyed supporting work that benefits the Asian American community in the Greater Boston area.

🧺 ACDC hosted the 4th annual Summer Picnic on July 11th, and it was a blast!! Community members enjoyed live performances, food, and lawn games, and learned about heat resiliency and mitigation information from our tabling partners!
