Do you live in Fenway-Kenmore, Allston-Brighton, Watertown, Belmont, or West Cambridge? 📍

Two candidates, incumbent Will Brownsberger and challenger Daniel Lander, are vying for the democratic nomination for YOUR State Senate seat.

📝 We gave the Senate candidates our questionnaire, which asks about stalled projects in the district and state legislation. We’re excited to share with you all the responses we got.

The 3rd annual Rainbow Day celebration will take place in the Andover town park from 9-1 on September 5th. Rainbow Day is all free - the event has a bike rodeo and skills course with free bike giveaways, a learning touch a truck with MassDot, kids activities from face painting to crafts to bubbles, free food, kids yoga, a mini golf course, entertainment and so much more.  🌈❤️

We have added a new start to Rainbow Day. The Freedom to Move Mile, a fast fun downhill mile race, will kick off the day at 9am!!  The mile is meant to be fun for elite runners, everyday runners, walkers, families, and everyone. There will be prizes for top 3 elementary schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers as well as adults, masters and senior masters.

All the proceeds raised from both events will support our nonprofit, the Sidney Mae Olson Rainbow Fund.  Sidney's Rainbow Fund was created in honor of Sidney Olson, who was tragically struck and killed by a truck driver in a crosswalk in downtown Andover. Today, our mission is to create communities where every child has the freedom to walk, run, bike, and roll safely. We advocate for safer streets and vehicles while inspiring kids to build healthy, active lifestyles through movement.

City Council has moved to commit to safer streets.

In the past month, they’ve filed for…

✔️Resolution to Recommit to Vision Zero 2030
✔️Hearing Order on the Status of the Citywide Bike Network Plan
✔️Hearing Order for Traffic Enforcement of Blocked Bike Lanes and Crosswalks
✔️Ordinance Mandating Annual Reporting of Streets Projects

We think that this legislation is a start. But we’d like to see more.

What’s your plan, Mayor Wu ⁉️

Last Friday’s letter was a start, but it’s not enough. We need real action, such as…

✔️Replacing all removed or damaged protection
✔️Resuming all previously started streets projects
✔️Resuming the Safety Surge initiative
✔️And more in our blog post (Link in Bio) 🔗

In need of some bike joy?

Join the BCU for a two-day bikepacking trip to P-town on August 29 and 30, 2026!

BoP-town is a self supported trip from Boston to Ptown. On the first day, we take the ferry to Hull and then bike about 65 miles to camp. The next day, we bike another 65 miles to Ptown. This is a great introduction to bikepacking for those curious to try it out!

⛴️ Campsites and Hull ferry tickets at the start will be arranged, but otherwise, riders will be responsible for their own navigation, gear, food, and return transportation from Provincetown.

📅 August 29 and 30!

We will be riding at a social pace and all level riders are welcome.

This bike ride is free for all. There will be a limited number of BLUEbike codes available for two hours of complementary riding for anyone who needs a bike.

🌈🚴 PRIDE RIDE IS HAPPENING! 🚴🌈

June is Pride Month. A time to uplift the LGBTQ+ community, celebrate the progress made toward equality, and remember the trailblazers who fought (and continue to fight) for the right to live openly and authentically.

It's a month of joy, reflection, and solidarity.

Pride celebration traces back to June 1969, when the patrons of the Stonewall Inn in New York City rose up against police raids targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Those brave individuals sparked a movement. The following year, the first Pride marches were held in NYC, LA, and Chicago. What began as an act of resistance has grown into a worldwide celebration of love, identity, and hard-won freedom.

Pride is both a party and a protest and a commitment to keep pushing for full equality for every member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Join us for Pride Ride 2026, a community bike ride open to all skill levels and all identities.

Come celebrate, connect, and pedal with purpose.
