An all volunteer organization working together to educate and encourage our community towards self-sufficiency while providing food for those in need.

We got lots done today at the farm, beans pulled down, okra and peppers picked, squash weeded and watered with our new easy stainless steel hose. Most exciting was our little visitor who wants to join our small but mighty group of volunteers. And we were so delighted to have Dixie back after she’s been helping a family member.

Scenes around the farm today. We do want to thank you all for your support. Teresa and Priscilla pulled down lots of the green bean plants. Also the Okra Girls Diane and Virginia picked close to 26 pounds of okra and Priscilla picked around 4 pounds of tomatoes. We still have peppers and many happy zinnia flowers.

We had a very special visitor to the Ada street garden. Priscilla’s latest grand dog Skipper. He is being raised by Brion Crow and Kathryn Daniel Crow who live in Pensacola Fl. 🙄

Skipper is a four month old future service dog with the non profit Canine Companions. CC is the oldest, largest service dog organization in the world. They provide expertly trained service dogs completely free of charge to folks who need them most. Skipper is a Labrador/Golden Retriever cross

Scenes around the farm yesterday. 20 pounds of okra and 30 pounds of beans were picked. Plus more of the corn stalks were removed and good ones saved for fall decorations.

Another great productive day on the farm. It was a tight squeeze but thanks to Curt’s driving and engineering skills and Ben’s navigation, using the truck to move corn stalks out of the field was an easier task. Their help is so appreciated! And the Corn stalks are now corralled in the barn awaiting time to decorate for Fall.

Happy tall sunflowers this year and we leave some on a table to let the birds continue to enjoy.

Curt helped us today start taking down corn stalks. Carey and Virginia picked okra, it’s still coming in strong and loves the heat. We marked a few extra large ones on the stalks to pick later for the seeds. Kathy and Virginia also picked beans which have been thriving this year.

Shown here is some of the produce delivered to the pantry last week. And we took 25 pounds of green beans and 50 pounds of tomatoes to First Fruits.

Today Priscilla harvested 16 pounds of peppers. Diane, Virginia and Kathy picked 39 lbs of okra which is the highest amount in one harvest so far.

Some of the flowers in the main garden at the Feed Fannin Farm that were planted not just to beautify, but to pollinate vegetable plants for increased production and to keep our bees happy and our apiary is thriving!
Thank you to our beekeeper, Tim Doherty, a volunteer and our beekeeper who recently expanded the hive count at the farm to five.
