The Humane Society of Blue Ridge (HSBR) is a no-kill pet shelter and adoption center located in the North Georgia Mountains. HSBR was established in December 2008 by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to help save abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals in the Fannin County Georgia area. HSBR operates a thrift store located in downtown Blue Ridge and all proceeds go towards the animals. Come Like our HSBR business Page on Facebook to Keep Up with Current Events! Your generous donations will help us give the animals in our care the attention they deserve. Your monetary donations go a long way to helping homeless cats and dogs. OUR MISSION AT THE HSBR:

To promote respect for all living things. To provide for the welfare of abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals and to find them loving, permanent homes. We will work to increase the awareness of animal issues through public education, striving to end euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals and promote and offer affordable spay and neutering.

Some happy news to start the week! GADGET has been adopted!

GADGET came to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge from a shelter with a high euthanasia rate, bringing with her an injury that had clearly gone untreated for a very long time.

One of her back legs was permanently extended, stretching several inches beyond the length of her body. After arriving in our care, one of our veterinarians, Dr. Jackson, performed surgery to amputate the damaged leg. During the procedure, it became clear just how extensive her injuries had been. GADGET's leg had suffered multiple fractures that healed incorrectly, leaving behind scar tissue, cartilage and bone fragments.

We don't know what happened to GADGET before she came to us, but we're incredibly grateful that she made it here and that our medical team was able to give her the care she needed.

GADGET recovered from surgery, adjusted to life on three legs and now has something even better to celebrate.

She's officially HOME!

Thank you to Dr. Jackson, our medical team, staff and volunteers who helped GADGET through her recovery, and to her wonderful new family for giving her the loving home she deserves.

Only 6 days until Paws Fest 2026!

We're sharing some photos from last year because we're getting excited to do it all again next Saturday!

If you've been before, you know how much fun this day is. And if you haven't, we'd love for you to join us!

We'll have local vendors, food trucks, b**r from Grumpy Old Men Brewing, rescue organizations and live music from Mook and Mimi starting at 1 PM!

And of course, we can't forget the Pet Parade and Costume Contest! Bring your dogs, dress them up (dress up yourself, too, if you want!) and come have some fun with us!

Here's the full schedule for Saturday, October 17:

11:15 AM: Pet Parade lineup (no registration needed!)

11:30 AM: Pet Parade through Downtown Blue Ridge City Park

12 PM - 4PM - PAWSFEST FESTIVAL!

PAWSFEST opens with the Pet Costume Contest at 12PM

1PM - 4 PM: Live music from Mook & Mimi, food, fall photos with Ande Cook, shopping with local vendors and more!

You'll find us at Downtown Blue Ridge City Park beside the train tracks.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.

Tickets are available at the gate and leashed pets are welcome!

All proceeds support Humane Society of Blue Ridge and the work we do for animals in our community!

We hope to see lots of familiar faces and meet some new ones, too.

That's a wrap on our October $99 Veterinary Exams! 🩺

Thank you to everyone who brought their pets to see us this month! We're grateful to be able to offer veterinary care to more pets and families throughout our community.

A special thank-you to Dr. Ramsey for the care and compassion she brings to every appointment. We're so fortunate to have her as part of our veterinary team!

Our next $99 Veterinary Exam dates are November 19 & 20! 🥳

We also want to remind our community that the Humane Society of Blue Ridge Veterinary Clinic is open to the public. You don't have to adopt from us or meet any income requirements to schedule an appointment.

Our $99 Veterinary Exams are open to EVERYONE, with no special qualifications required. Our clinic offers routine exams, vaccines and wellness care.

Behind every kennel door is a story, and not all of them are easy to tell.

Some of the animals in our care are recovering from illness or injury. Some are learning to trust people again after abuse and neglect. Others have been with us for months, waiting for someone to give them a chance.

We share a lot of happy adoption stories here, but there’s so much that happens before those moments.

Our staff shows up every single day to care for these animals, through the difficult days, the small victories and everything in between. Alongside our volunteers and fosters, they put an incredible amount of time, patience and heart into making sure every animal has the best chance possible. ❤️‍🩹

We’re so grateful for the people who do this work and for a community that continues to stand behind them.

We hope you’ll take a moment to see the animals who are still waiting. Come visit us, share their stories or help us find the homes they deserve.

Every one of them deserves to be chosen. 💙

We had some wonderful extra hands at the shelter this week!

The Mountain Area Christian Academy Leadership Team joined us for a day of volunteering, and we couldn't be more grateful for the time they spent with us.

It means a lot to have students who are willing to give their time to help others, especially the animals in our care. Thank you to each of these students and their teachers for showing up, lending a hand and being part of what we do here at the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. We loved having you!
