The Georgia Cycling team arrived to find that an overnight storm had dropped almost two inches of rain on our event site. But that rain couldn't dampen The Cleveland Climb! What started as a messy morning with a crew depositing loads of mulch to get our infield in shape turned into an amazing day of cross-country mountain bike racing...with a touch of Dolly! Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow.

We are about 12 hours away from The Cleveland Climb, the first race in the 2026 Northside Hospital Race Series. Some folks will be taking home this hardware tomorrow. And hopefully everyone has fun while unlocking a new level of personal achievement. We will see you at the climb!

The last week of practice before Race 1 of the Northside Hospital Race Series! Here's your practice forecast: The North Georgia teams will see lower humidity early this week, keeping the heat index in check. However, central and south Georgia will continue to see heat index values in the 95 to 105 range. Shower and thunderstorm activity increases beginning Wednesday.

This week's MTB selfie comes from Coach Tim Hernquist. He captured this selfie of his ride group in front of the Gennett Poplar tree in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Fun fact: this massive poplar tree is estimated to be over 400 years old and has been recognized as the second-largest living tree in the state of Georgia! Not only do you meet cool people when you mountain bike, but you also see cool things!

Heads up, Georgia Cycling family — the heat is ramping up this week. By Friday, most of our area will see temps in the 95–100° range, pushing heat index values past 105 in many places. Savannah should expect the highest numbers, with heat index readings of 110–115° Thursday and Friday afternoons.

What that means for practice:
🟡 Heat index 100–105° → activities limited to 1 hour max
🔴 Heat index over 105° → practice is canceled or postponed until it drops below 106°
