What a great and inspiring day at the CCL Michigan State Conference! 🌎 We joined about a dozen other CCL chapters from around Michigan for a day of connecting, building bridges, and inspiring action. Session topics included:
⚖️ Hearing from state senators and representatives about community solar and other legislation
⚡️ Learning about the grid, construction of transmission lines, and public engagement in the process
🌷A tour of the MSU botanical garden
🇺🇸 An update on federal policies in DC
🏡 Net-zero housing development
🌳 Pocket forests, urban forests, and native meadows
☀️ Balcony solar state legislation and applied BRIDGE training exercises

We’re excited to share, work on, and apply so many things we learned today. Next stop is lobbying in DC next month!

What a great gathering doing the second unit of CCL’s BRIDGE Training! We learned about CCL’s theory of change, the three conditions for congressional action, and ways to foster those conditions to persuade our legislators to support and advance climate legislation (by meeting them where they are, not using force). Just like last time, we had so many great discussions together!

The BRIDGE trainings are available on CCL Community to do independently as well.

Big thanks to Amy and Sean (and Betty 🐶) for hosting and for making the delicious vegan pizza! 🍕

We got rained out for our park clean-up this morning, so instead we met for coffee and climate actions at The Congregation in Detroit! We did CCL’s current action to support the Save Our Sequoias Act, we filled out constituent comment forms for permitting reform, we did actions in the Climate Action Now app and through the Climate Changemakers tool, and worked on letters to the editor. A productive couple hours and great opportunity to connect and chat too! 🌎 ☕️

The rain got us again! ☔️

Unfortunately, this Saturday is going to be very wet, so we are changing plans and will no longer be helping to clean up Rochester Municipal Park. We are planning to meet at The Congregation in Detroit to socialize and to complete climate actions through the Climate Action Now app, Climate Changemakers, writing LTes, or any CCL actions that members haven’t completed.

Meet us at The Congregation, 9321 Rosa Parks Blvd, Detroit, Ml at 10 am.

The Congregation does have coffee, tea, and some food options as well. Feel free to bring your laptop or tablet if you plan on writing LTEs. Hope to see you there!
