We are celebrating National Public Works Week! 🚧

The North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF) proudly supports our North Dakota public works members with liability, auto, and public asset coverage options that protect North Dakota’s political subdivisions. Sufficient coverage is crucial when insurance claims inevitably arise in the public works space.

Recently, the NDIRF introduced the Public Sewer Back-Up and Water Main Break Coverage Endorsement to address the problems that come with the unfortunate events of sewer/water backups. 💦 This endorsement allows governmental entities to assist with cleanup and damage mitigation even when there is no legal liability on the entity’s end. The Bismarck ND City Government is a member that has already added the endorsement to their policy with the NDIRF! 🎉

Thank you to our public works members for your work in making North Dakota a great place to live!

The NDIRF proudly works with members to provide resources that help reduce risk in the workplace. Our partnership with the North Dakota Firefighter's Association (NDFA) provides the Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) and the Pump Operations class to North Dakota firefighters and EMS agencies. 🚒 These FREE courses teach emergency service workers how to safely operate emergency vehicles in high-stress scenarios.

Recently, the NDIRF Member Services team delivered a check to the NDFA team in Bismarck to support EVOC training!

STATEMENT FROM THE NORTH DAKOTA INSURANCE RESERVE FUND

It is important to clarify how NDIRF operates, the responsibilities it carries as a public entity risk pool, and the factors that influence complex claims involving multiple injured parties and limited coverage. Recent public discussion of this matter has included some misunderstanding of NDIRF’s role, the structure of coverage involved, and the legal framework governing these claims, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide additional context.
