There’s something incredibly powerful about Dolly Parton’s legacy: she never forgot what it felt like to grow up without much - and she turned that experience into a gift for millions of children.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children receive a free, age-appropriate book every month, from birth to age five. 📚❤️

Missouri Slope Areawide United Way has proudly brought this program to local families since 2009. Today, 3,140 children in our community receive a book every month - books that become bedtime stories, family moments, new words, big imaginations and, hopefully, a lifelong love of reading.

Dolly didn’t just give children books. She gave families a reason to sit together, read together and dream together.

That is a legacy worth celebrating - and one we are proud to carry forward right here at home.

Each year, United Way assists with HUD’s Point-in-Time count to identify unsheltered individuals in our community. We are looking for volunteers the evening of August 19 from 10pm to 12am and 12am to 2am. A brief training will take place before your shift, and you will be paired an experienced team member.
