Pro-life North Dakotans: this is why Measure 1 matters. Since Roe was overturned, abortion amendments have received:

Ohio — 56.6% — PASSED
Missouri — 51.6% — PASSED
Montana — 57.8% — PASSED
Florida — 57.2% — FAILED

Why did Florida fail? Florida requires 60% to amend its Constitution. Every one received more than 50%. Not one reached 60%. Measure 1 would require 60% to amend North Dakota’s Constitution. If North Dakota faces an abortion amendment in the future, the difference between 50% and 60% could determine whether abortion is written into our state Constitution.

Today, we are joined by members of Congress to mark fifty years of the Hyde Amendment and honor the extraordinary man it is named after. Henry Hyde believed that a child’s right to live should never depend on her parents’ income or whether the government would pay for her abortion. Because he had the courage to speak, fight, and persevere, an estimated 2.6 million children received the gift of life. His amendment became their shield, and their lives remain his greatest legacy.
