At the Upper Missouri Water Association meeting in South Dakota working with our neighbors in the Upper Missouri River Basin on Missouri River issues including challenges and opportunities for irrigation. Great presentation this morning from Dana Berwick, a Montana irrigator who irrigates from tributaries to the Missouri.

State Water Commission approves additional $2M for livestock water supply program to meet strong demand after the drought relief program receives over 220 applications in first week. The program has been expanded to all counties in North Dakota.

Thanks to North Dakota Water Education Foundation - NDWEF for including irrigation stops on the water tour and to Southwest Water Authority for hosting a round table with Rep. Fedorchak on water issues in the state.

North Dakota has less than 300,000 acres irrigated today. Based on soil suitability and water availability, North Dakota could be irrigating 1.5 million acres!
