⚠️ 𝐒𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?

Simply put, child exploitation occurs when someone takes advantage of a child for their own benefit, often through manipulation, deception, coercion, or an abuse of power or trust.

And it doesn’t always involve physical contact or a stranger.

⚠️ Child exploitation can include:

🔹 Sexual Exploitation: Manipulating or pressuring a child into s*xual activity, sometimes in exchange for money, gifts, affection, shelter, or other perceived needs.

🔹 Online Exploitation: Using social media, gaming platforms, messaging apps, or other technology to groom, manipulate, s*xually exploit, or blackmail children.

🔹 Criminal Exploitation: Coercing or manipulating children into criminal activities, such as transporting drugs, stealing, or committing other offenses for someone else’s benefit.

🔹 Labor Exploitation: Forcing or coercing children into work or services under abusive or exploitative conditions.

🔹 Child Trafficking: Exploiting children through commercial s*x or forced labor. Trafficking does NOT require kidnapping, transportation, or crossing state lines.

A child may not recognize that they’re being exploited. They may believe the person exploiting them is a friend, romantic partner, or someone who genuinely cares about them. The more parents, educators, caregivers, and community members understand child exploitation, the better equipped we are to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately, and protect vulnerable children.

Some people dedicate their careers to making a living. Others dedicate their lives to making a difference. Pam Stack has done both, and countless lives are better because of her.

The Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP) extends our heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to our dear friend, colleague, and fellow advocate, Pam Stack, as she begins her well-deserved retirement!

From her early years as a middle school educator to becoming a passionate leader in the fight against human trafficking, Pam has demonstrated what it truly means to turn compassion into action.

What began as a calling to protect vulnerable children grew into years of extraordinary service through Trafficking Hope, HopeUNITED with United Way of East Central Alabama, and her work as a trainer with CTSP.

Throughout her journey, Pam has been a powerful voice for prevention, education, and survivor support. She has helped communities recognize the warning signs of exploitation, empowered others with knowledge, and reminded survivors that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

But perhaps Pam’s greatest legacy isn’t simply the work she has accomplished. It’s the people she has inspired to carry that work forward.

At CTSP, we have been incredibly fortunate to have Pam share her knowledge, compassion, and unwavering commitment to protecting children and combating human trafficking. Her contributions to our mission and to the broader anti-trafficking community have been invaluable.

Pam, thank you for the lives you’ve touched, the voices you’ve amplified, the communities you’ve educated, and the hope you’ve given to so many. Your dedication has made Alabama a better place, and your impact will continue long after your retirement.
