Sweet Grass Technical Institute is proud to partner with the Montana Department of Labor & Industry to launch a brand-new Automotive Mechanic Pre-Apprenticeship for high school juniors and seniors within the Sweet Grass and Stillwater area.
Grounded in our mission — to teach students important life skills they can use for a
lifetime, and to inspire those who want to go further in the automotive industry — this program provides students with hands-on training, real world experience, and an early pathway into Montana’s automotive workforce.
Pre-apprenticeships offer powerful benefits, including:
• Building foundational technical skills before entering a full apprenticeship
• Strengthening problem solving, teamwork, and professional habits essential for
long term success
• Helping students explore career interests in a low risk, supportive environment
• Improving readiness for registered apprenticeships and future employment
• Connecting students with industry mentors and high-quality training opportunities
By combining classroom learning with industry backed skills, we’re helping young people explore their futures and build clear pathways to high quality apprenticeships after graduation.

What started as just an idea… has officially come to life!

I am beyond excited and incredibly proud to introduce our newest program to the community:
🚗💨 SGTI Dirt Car Racing at Sweet Grass Technical Institute 💨🚗

This has been months in the making, and it wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support from our community.
🙏 This program is fully funded through grants, sponsorships, and donations dedicated specifically to racing — making this opportunity accessible to students at NO COST.

💥 Meet the Team Leading the Way:
🏁 Casey Smith – Bringing real driving experience as our primary driver
🔧 Adam Davenport – Lead Instructor & Car Boss in the pits

These guys bring a lifetime of automotive knowledge and real-world racing experience to our students.
