You might be wondering "Where did they go?"
No posts, no pictures- nothing to show?
We didn't disappear or run away,
We've just been busy every day.
For the fifth year now we proudly prepare,
A Talent Show tradition we're proud to share.
Behind the scenes it's strum and shake,
Practice, repeat, then take a break.
Guitars, dancing, lines to say,
Getting ready for the big show day.
There's magic tricks and plays in the mix,
A few "try agains" and at least one quick fix.
Some giggles, some whispers, some plans coming through-
A little bit of chaos (the good kind too!)
We could share photos and give you a view,
But that would ruin the surprise for you.
So we're keeping things quiet- just for now,
Saving the best for the final bow.

The talent show is coming soon,
And we'd love to see everyone there in the room.
Come cheer the kids on and clap along-
For every dance and every song.
Trust us, it'll be worth the wait-
These kids have been working hard on things that are great!

Last week the sun came shining bright,
So outside we played with pure delight.
Fresh laughter and room to zoom-
Sunshine chased away the Winter gloom!

Back inside the fun rolled on,
With games and giggles going strong.
Friendly rounds and a cheer or two,
A little silly chaos too.

Then ideas started to grow,
As we started planning our Annual Talent Show.
Songs and jokes and acts to try-
Big talents reaching for the sky.

Art time brought creative flair,
Pipe cleaners, straws, people everywhere.
Little people took their shape,
In silly poses the kids did make.

Homework done and reading strong,
Pages turning all week long.
Sunshine, games, and learning too,
Just another week with the Big Timber After School Club crew!

We wrapped up Winter Games with cheers and delight,
Medals awarded what a sight!
Gold, silver, bronze held high.
Smiles so big they reached the sky!

Our reading stars had their day too,
With minutes logged (and not just a few)
Pages turned, and goals were met,
Proud moments we won't forget.

We did hit pause with plans and rules,
No big schedule, no 'schooly tools',
Just games and giggles, time to play-
Kids being kids in the best way.

A little art with bendy flair,
Googly eyed critters here, and there.
But mostly laughter fun and pride,
With our After School Club Kids side by side.

Another week of growing strong,
Learning, laughing all along!

And here's the number that says it all...
Since the start of the school year our 1st- 5th graders have logged 4,177 minutes and 41 seconds of reading... and counting!!

Last week was a short but busy week at Big Timber After School Club! We are still continuing our Winter Games and last week was the Penguin Shuffle and a dance off. Wednesday brought Stem stations and making thank you cards to show our appreciation for the Sweet Grass County Ambulance. The week ended with making paper flowers for the First Congregational Church's Church Breakfast during art.

Last week at Big Timber After School Club we once again proved that kids can juggle homework, reading logs, AR goals, and spelling tests… and still bring the energy.

We kicked things off with a classroom heart hunt. The mission? Find the hidden hearts, take a selfie with each one, then choose your favorite photo and recreate the exact face. Let’s just say we discovered a wide range of expressions—from dramatic shock to model-level serious to “I have absolutely no idea what my face is doing.” It was equal parts literacy lesson and photo shoot.

Tuesday we launched our Winter Games with a snowball toss. There was strategy. There was teamwork. There were a few throws that didn’t quite go where intended. Everyone agreed it was a strong start to the games.

On Wednesday, the Sweet Grass County Ambulance crew visited and walked students through the first aid bags they packed the week before, explaining what each item is used for and why it matters. The kids asked great questions and then got to tour the inside of the ambulance—which instantly became the most talked-about moment of the day.

A huge thank you to the ambulance crew for taking the time to teach our students, and to all of the parents who helped make the project possible. We’re grateful for a community that shows up.

For art, students explored watercolor resistance while creating Valentine hearts. There were careful brush strokes, a few colorful fingers, and a lot of proud smiles.

It was a full week of learning, creativity, teamwork, and just enough silliness to keep things interesting. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Last week at Big Timber After School Club students spent some time learning about "I statements" and spent time writing their own, which are now proudly displayed on our bulletin board upstairs.
They also had the opportunity to visit the library to look for new and interesting books.
Another day students worked together to pack first aid bags for an upcoming activity.
For art they expressed their creativity by making paper plate hats and layered hearts for Valentine's Day.

We are ready for another exciting month at Big Timber After School Club!

This week at Big Timber After School Club,
The kids finished their planets with curiosity and love.
They built full solar systems and worlds all their own,
With moons set in place and stars carefully shown.

Each planet came with details thoughtfully planned,
From gravity and air to the shapes of the land.
They shared what folks eat and what skies look like too,
What shines overhead when the day is all through.

There was Pluto, cold and quiet, drifting afar,
And a sky planet where swimmers glide through the northern lights and stars.
One world grew pickles right off the vine,
Another had pickle stars that shimmer and shine.

Some planets had dragons and flying cars in sight,
With space critters, snakes, and turtles roaming day and night.
The day before the show, they took time to relax,
Watching a movie, eating popcorn, and having a laugh.

In art the next day, their ideas grew more,
As they painted the inhabitants of each world’s shore
Thank you to families and friends who came by,
To listen, to learn, and let imagination fly.

We have had some questions about how our program is funded and the activities we provide! we are happy to update you!

🌟 Big Timber After School Club Update! 🌟
The Big Timber After School Club is supported through grants, donations, and the 21st Century Community Learning Center funding! This 21st CCLC funding covers 75% of our program expenses, allowing us to offer scholarships for families in need and keep our program affordable for everyone (families only pay a small fee to participate).
We are truly grateful to live in a community that believes in our mission and supports the work we do each day. ❤️
Each afternoon, our students enjoy:
✨ A healthy snack
✨ Time to socialize and build friendships
✨ Hands-on learning in daily themed activities — right now we’re exploring SPACE!
• Art
• Games
• STEM
• Cooking & nutrition
• Community speakers
• Career readiness
We wrap up each day with homework support, helping students stay on track with classroom goals.
None of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers who help create a safe, supportive, and FUN environment for every child who walks through our doors.
