We have had a busy and productive summer and there is more to come. Bethlehem Community Dinner is maintaining its growth with meals consistently topping 100 with dine-in and take-out meals served weekly. BCD’s volunteer crew of over 15, has it all well in hand. Volunteer Lisa Peckett has added her love for and expertise of bargain hunting with Nancy Strands attention to thrift keeps us in $300 mark for each dinner. Another plus has been partnering with the gleaning organization Salvation Farms along with local garden donation including the Mount Scared Heart Convent in Littleton. Bethlehem Food Pantry has also been happy to collect and distribute fresh local produce to our clients.
The Bethlehem Food Pantry, under the ownership and operation of Bethlehem Community Dinner has reached our one-year mark. We went in with a pretty big learning curve but we are happy to report it this past year we serve an average of 35 household each month represented by around 220 individuals. The Just One Thing Program is bringing in over $500 of in-kind donations monthly. Our volunteer crew has slowly grown to about 6 and we have added a weekend morning to our hours of operation in order best serve our community.
As we move into the last quarter, fall and holiday season, we are planning our annual Thanksgiving dinner, yearly Thanksgiving baskets with all the trimmings, Christmas gift cards to families in need, and as always, a friendly smile and listening ear to our neighbors who are struggling.
BCD will be holding an Empty Bowl Fundraiser & Silent Auction on Thursday November 19 from 3 to 6 pm at The Durrell UMC 2057 Main Street in Bethlehem. You can purchase a hand-crafted soup bowl with a minimum of $25 that represents 5 meals and place a bid on the many action items.

Some weather is best observed from the inside… it’s blustery out there but I do love a moody fall day - it’s fancy coffee Friday once again and we’re keeping it cozy, it’s the perfect day to sit inside with a delicious hot cup & watch the leaves swirl by 🌬️🍁… today we’re brewing up a MALTED MAPLE LATTE - malt powder steamed up with your choice of milk and local maple syrup with rich espresso makes a super tasty latte- comfort coffee ( is that a thing? ) it is now!

The rain is supposed to lighten up for tomorrow, so take advantage of some expected sun and enjoy a Take-A-Break Thursday by coming to the Bethlehem Community Dinner! We serve from 5pm to 6pm (trivia at 4:45pm); find us at the back entrance to Durrell Methodist Church.

This week we're having Roasted Pork Loin, Cinnamon Baked Apples, Buttery Peas, Mashed Potatoes, Glazed Carrots, Hawaiian Roll, and German Chocolate Cake for dessert. The line is longest right at 5pm so if you are taking meals to-go, it's best to arrive at 5:15pm or later if that works with your schedule. Containers from home for take-outs helps our budget and are always appreciated!

One of the many reasons I ❤️ October - it’s pumpkin season & I have a pumpkin obsession, tiny ones, huge ones, lumpy bumpy ones, colorful ones- gimmie them alll! Anyway for fancy coffee Friday we figured we would brew up a WHITE PUMPKIN LATTE - Ghirardelli white chocolate & our house pumpkin spice by our amazing KT make a super delicious latte 🎃 top it off with whip or pumpkin cold foam and you’re pumpkin ma###ng! I mean tis the season y’all…

Sadly, we will need to take down our outdoor seating canopy soon and probably won't have outdoor dining until next spring! But inside, it'll be warm with another great dinner this week, so get ready for Take-A-Break Thursday tomorrow.

We serve from 5pm to 6pm; find us at the back entrance to Durrell Methodist Church. Trivia starts at 4:45pm. Last week, all 10 trivia questions were about Dolly Parton and everyone learned things they didn't know! Two tables tied, winning the Smartest Table Award and chance to be first in line. Just a reminder that the line is typically pretty long from 5pm to about 5:15pm. If you are getting meals to go, please remember to bring containers if you have them and get there after 5:15 if that works with your schedule.

This week we are having Chicken Paprikash over Egg Noodles (GF option available), fruit salad, garden salad, garlic bread, and triple decker saltine toffee bars for dessert! What is Chicken Paprikash, you may ask? We are making it with chicken breast pieces, in a paprika seasoned tomato based sauce with sour cream, onion and garlic added. We'll have fun making this meal and we hope you come in to enjoy it!

As always, we thank Durrell Methodist Church for the use of their kitchen and Fellowship Hall, the local gardeners who have been donating their produce, the Mount Sacred Heart Garden in Littleton, and all those who help to keep our dinners going, especially the volunteer Crew who prep, cook, serve and clean up!

Need a break from dinner responsibilities? Would it be nice to have friendly conversation while enjoying good food? Come see us for Take-A-Break Thursday Community Dinner! We serve at Durrell Methodist Church on Main Street from 5pm to 6pm with Trivia for Smartest Table Award at 4:45pm. Find us at the back door entrance.

This week we're having Chicken Pot Pie, Basmati Rice, Dolly Parton Pumpkin Cornbread, Cabbage Carrot Pineapple Slaw, and Cheesecake Bars for dessert. Last week there was quite a line at 5pm; we suggest arriving at 5:15pm or later for to-go pickup meals.

It's hard to name all the contributors we get for our meals, especially as gardens start producing wonderful harvests in the fall. Lately we've received some great donations from the Mount Sacred Heart Garden in Littleton, thanks to Evelyn Hagan. As always, we thank Durrell Methodist Church for the use of their kitchen and Fellowship Hall.

Take-A-Break Thursday is coming up fast so make plans to have us do the prep work, cooking, serving and clean up for you tomorrow night! As gardens are being harvested, we've been very fortunate to get lots of locally sourced donations. Special thanks to Steve Dignazio and Holly Hayward for the awesome butternut squash we're using in this week's menu.

This week is the kind of meal that takes two days of work to put together, coordinated by BCD Crew members Steve Reardon and Lisa Peckett. We're having Chicken Schnitzle with optional Shrimp Sauce, Spaetzle (made from scratch), a Butternut Squash Feta Salad, a Garden Salad, and a Apple/Pear Crisp that you can pair with Super Secret Ice Cream for dessert. For those of you not familiar with spaetzle, it's a soft, dumpling-like egg noodle - trust us, you'll love how Steve makes it. Gluten free versions of the chicken and spatzle will be available.
