BES NEST

BES NEST BES NEST—Neighbors Empowering Students & Teachers to SOAR—is Bethlehem Elementary School’s PTS NEST is a small collection of volunteers. We urge you to attend!

How much or how little we accomplish depends solely on help from BES community members like you. Read the "How You Can Help" section below to learn how you can do your part to help us make our school and community an exciting, fun, enriching, and vibrant learning environment for all our children. HOW WE HELP:

NEST HOSTS FUN EVENTS
There's always something exciting happening at BES thanks to our

fun Annual Events, including an Ice Cream Social, Trunk-or-Treat, Family Movie Night, Staff Appreciation Celebration—and more. Check out our Home page and Calendar of Events at https://besnest.org, sign up for emails, and follow us Facebook. NEST ENRICHES STUDENTS
We donated $11,000 to build the new BES Playground, Support Outdoor Education, Fund Field Trips and STEM Projects, Promote School Spirit with our Eagle Gear, encourage student volunteerism, and support various student incentive programs throughout the year. NEST SUPPORTS TEACHERS
We are always on call at BES. We work closely with our BES Principal and staff, ready to help with any need that arises. We also maintain a Student Directory, Provide Funds for Teacher Appreciation Gifts, and organize an Annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfast | Lunch. NEST GIVES BACK
It takes a village to raise a child, and ours is a pretty great one. We count on the generosity of our community members and businesses, and pay it forward by holding a Holiday Food Drive, funding Food Baskets for BES families in need, donating to the Community Dinner, and joining in our Annual Roadside Cleanup. HOW YOU CAN HELP:

SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISERS
Please consider purchasing Spirit Gear, sell pies to your family & friends during our Holiday Pie Sale, and/or donate directly. ATTEND OUR HAPPY HOUR MEET & EAT SOCIAL
This important September meeting introduces parents to NEST, goes over our schedule and goals for the coming school year, and most importantly, outlines how you can help in any small or big way you’re able. (subject to change with COVID-19)

LEND A HAND WHEN ASKED
Throughout the year, we put out calls for volunteer needs via email blasts, flyers and Sign Up Genius. Please watch for how you can help—any small bit counts! DONATE
We often send out calls for help gathering small supplies or food items for our events. Every little bit helps. Find our donation buckets at all our events. If you own a business or can provide a service, please inquire how you can help. HELP AS LITTLE OR AS MUCH AS YOU CAN—BUT JUST HELP
Pick just one thing. Help only whenever or with whatever you can. But just help. And consider making it a family affair. You will be supporting your children’s school and—by your own example and through their own efforts—instilling in your children the value of being part of and giving back to our community. LISTEN AND SPREAD THE WORD
Sign up to receive our emails, open and read them, spread the word, and be sure to follow BES NEST on Facebook. We’ll keep you in the know about all things BES & NEST. We’re looking forward to a fun, successful, inspiring, and productive School Year at BES! Please join us.

BES students enjoyed the Montshire Museum of Science on Friday! Once again, we have NEST member Jessica Marie Michelle to thank for her amazing pictures. 📸

Every year, NEST uses a portion of our fundraising dollars to offset field trip costs for BES. This year, we were in a position to fund field trips 💯. With our $2,151 donation, field trips for all BES students were free! (Check out our Squam Lakes Natural Science Center pictures in another post.)

Our GARDEN CLUB picnic tables arrived today!! Using our Outdoor Classroom Fund, BES NEST donated 4 Deluxe 6' Picnic Tables to the BES Garden Club.

According to Garden Club director Carole Bays, "These tables will be multi-purpose for our Garden Club, our school, and our Bethlehem community. During the winter months we will be able to put the tables in the greenhouse and use them as work tables where students and teachers will have an additional area to learn and explore."

The Garden Club students were super excited at the unveiling of the tables. The tables will be put together by BES staff members, but help will be needed to transport them to their final location next week. Stay tuned—we will put out a call for some help once they are assembled.

ISO: NEST is looking for a small table or stand to update the coffee & microwave stand in the Bethlehem Elementary School staff lounge.

Any piece of furniture can do, as long as it can fit a small microwave and Keurig maker with some prep room, and would be wonderful to have some shelves for sugar, salt etc storage.

The dimensions are:

49” W maximum
71” H maximum
30” D give or take an inch or two

Please let us know if you have something or if you come across something that may work listed anywhere. Ideally, we are hoping for a donation.

We could also use a coffee pod storage carousel if anyone has any extra.

Thank you!

NEST's 8th Annual BES Teacher & Staff Appreciation celebration was a big success—we relaxed muscles, filled bellies, and put smiles on the faces of our hardworking, dedicated BES staff!

We deep gratitude, we'd like to thank the many people and businesses who donated food, time, supplies, and decorations. Without you, our event would not be possible!

We kicked off our celebrations with mini massages on Tuesday provided by Margaret Hocking, Alec Destromaisons, and Kristy Lundstrom.

Thank you to Sarah Storella and Lonesome Woods Antiques, Amanda Mitchell, Joy Runyon and Jessica White for donating items and their time to spruce up the staff lounge in preparation for our event.

A big thank you to all those who registered via Sign Up Genius to donate food and supplies (in no particular order): Nicki Okland Williams, Nicole Schmarr, Robin Lubguban, Joshua Beemer, Susan Torres, Kathe Damm, Debra Charland, Viola McCarson, Rebecca Ford, Michelle Greenwood, Erica Anderson, Tammy Cote, Brigitte Taylor, Hannah Brantley, Dwayne DeSisto, Chard Proulx, Leah Newton, Angela MacKinnon, Meg Metras, and NEST members Margaret Hocking, Jessica White and Teresa Wood.

We know we may be omitting some of the people who dropped off food without pre-registering. Thank you to those of you we may have missed!

A special thank you to the businesses who so generously donated food and/or raffle prizes: Maia Papaya, Lonesome Woods, Rek'Lis, Bethlehem Village Store, Jack & Fin's, Bella Funk, and Omni Mount Washington.

Finally, the BIGGEST thank you goes to the wonderful teachers & staff for all they do throughout the year for all the children of our community!
