โ€œWhen First Nations lead, the revenue stays home, our young people are trained into careers, and the lights stay on in our communities when the grid goes down," said Alliance Vice President of Tribal Engagement, Tim Nuvangyaoma, who represents us at this week's First Nations Clean Energy Symposium, in Australia.

This two-day symposium, hosted by the First Nations Clean Energy Network and held on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung people, brings together global First Nations leaders, investors, policymakers, industry professionals, and government officials to explore practical solutions that strengthen self-determination in the transition to clean energy.

"Leaving First Nations out does not make the transition faster. It makes it slower and more expensive. Projects stall, consent is contested, and costs climb," said Tim. "Bring us in as owners and partners at the start and the risk is removed, rather than paid for later."

On May 29, 2026, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) proposed the most significant rewrite of federal grant rules in decades. If finalized, the new regulation would take effect on October 1, 2026, and could have a significant impact on federal grants to Tribal Nations.

Join NAFOA and a panel of experts as we break down what's in the proposed rule, what it means for Tribal governments, and what you can do before the July 13 comment deadline.

The 105th Mashpee Wampanoag Pawaw was a scorcher. Temperatures nearing 100ยฐF with extreme humidity. Cooling tent and ice water flowed to keep dancers and attendees safe. Electricity demand in summer heatwaves spikes making home cooling expenses a real burden on elders - and all Tribal members.

The Alliance is here with Preferred Provider, Sovereign Energy Partners meeting with Chief Swift Eagle and Council members about solar solutions towards cost savings, resilience, and energy sovereignty.

Our CEO and Senior Director of Project Finance & Structuring have spent a few intense days with our financial and advocacy partners and allies at the Advisors Forum and Planetary Solutions Summit in NYC this week.

Top of mind for the Alliance is 12 of our investment-ready Tribal projects - solar, storage, and hydro - with a combined project cost of $450M, with more than half already committed.

These philanthropically de-risked projects are projected to generate $806M in net operating income for these Tribes, and a 3.7x return on total project cost to the investors who bring the balance of the capital. The socioeconomic benefits are ๐Ÿ’ฅ as well.

This is the work the Allianceโ€™s team of finance experts is doing behind the scenes to advance the self-determined pursuit of energy sovereignty.

226 Tribal leaders, members, and partner-allies. 47 Tribes. One unforgettable week at Tulalip.

The Tribal Energy Evolution Summit is invitation only. We cap attendance at 200 โ€” intentionally โ€” because the work that happens at TEES requires trust, depth, and the kind of conversation that only happens when there is personal connection and shared commitment.

This year, we couldn't stop at 200. The interest was simply too great, and the need for collaboration even greater. ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿป

And together, we marked two historic milestones:

๐Ÿ’ซ We launched the Tribal Clean Energy Regional Coordination Council (TCERCC) โ€” new infrastructure for coordinated regional energy action across Indian Country

๐ŸŽ“ We celebrated the founding Fellows of the Tribal Energy Leaders Fellowshipโ„  (TELF) โ€” the first fellowship of its kind dedicated to developing the next generation of Tribal clean energy leaders

To every Tribal leader, member, and partner-ally who honored us with their presence at Tulalip โ€” thank you. What you brought to TEES 2026 will ripple far beyond last week. ๐Ÿชถ

Another tremendous TEES comes to a close.
