Refugees International

Refugees International We are dedicated to creating a more welcoming world for people seeking refuge. People forced from their homes by conflict are among the world’s most vulnerable.

Common humanity compels us to work for their protection. Moreover, a world without refugees and internally displaced people will be more stable, pose fewer immediate and long-term security threats, and allow far greater numbers of people to enjoy their civil, political, economic, social, and religious rights.

These next two weeks, NBA fans will be glued to their screens watching the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs face off in the finals. But those won’t be the only brands on display.

The logo of the Emirates, the flagship airline of the United Arab Emirates, will be splattered across these same screens. Behind this NBA-Emirates partnership is a disturbing fact: the same UAE partnering with the NBA is also funding genocide in Sudan.

A growing coalition of advocates, Sudanese diaspora, and members of Congress have one call: the NBA must END its partnership with the Emirates.

Join us and take action today.

Almost one year ago, 400+ individuals from 12 countries, 44 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico signed the pledge, affirming their commitment to coming together—one act of welcome at a time—to build stronger communities where everyone can thrive.
Though many of our neighbors—especially people who are immigrants and refugees—continue to feel uncertain and afraid, your act of welcome helped to show them they're not alone.
As we approach , we want to celebrate YOU and your efforts to keep your community welcoming.
Submit through photos, videos, or written reflections the act of welcome you completed! ⬇️

The ceasefire in Gaza is failing and the humanitarian situation there remains catastrophic.

Last week, leaders from Oxfam America, Refugees International, and Save the Children US hosted a press briefing at the United Nations to address the reality that Palestinians face daily despite the ceasefire.

The message was clear – world leaders must do all in their power to end the Israeli government’s ongoing bombardment and blockage of aid. The violence has not stopped and the people of Gaza can’t wait any longer.

Refugees are already economic actors. These 3 refugees in Uganda are a testament to that.

With global aid cuts, countries like Uganda must create refugee policy that shifts from aid dependency to enabling enterprise.

When refugees are given the legal right to work, everyone wins.

One of the NBA’s biggest sponsors is the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE also sponsors the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group in Sudan that’s committing genocide.

The NBA is renowned for its support of civil and human rights. NBA, make the right call: End the Emirates deal.
