Did you know? 🤔

Since the beginning of 2026, SVCF has awarded grants, launched its first Youth Action Council, connected volunteers with local organizations, and helped prepare for another successful Give to Grow campaign.

Every gift, every volunteer, and every community partner plays a role in making Mitchell County stronger.

With fair season right around the corner, we're shining a spotlight on a recent grant that helps support one of Mitchell County's favorite summer traditions.

Thanks to funding from Solomon Valley Community Foundation, the Mitchell County 4-H Council was able to purchase new refrigeration appliances and upgrade lighting in the Mitchell County 4-H Building. These improvements were put to use during the 2025 Mitchell County Fair and will continue to benefit fairgoers, 4-H families, and community members who utilize the building throughout the year.

The upgrades help keep food and ice cold in the busy Mitchell County Fair, Beloit KS 4-H Food Stand, eliminate the need for rental equipment, and provide brighter, safer conditions for displaying the hard work of local 4-H members. During the project, outdated wiring was also discovered and replaced, creating a safer facility for future use.

Beyond the fair itself, Mitchell County 4-H serves more than 120 youth each year, helping them develop leadership, service, and life skills. The annual food stand, one of only two fundraisers for the 4-H Council, not only serves thousands of fair visitors but also gives young people hands-on experience in teamwork, customer service, and responsibility.

We're proud to support projects that strengthen community traditions while investing in the next generation. 💚

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy and the communities we call home. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we reflect with gratitude on the courage, selflessness, and legacy of those who served — and we honor the families who carry that legacy forward.

From all of us at Solomon Valley Community Foundation, we wish you a meaningful Memorial Day as we remember those who gave everything.
