Secret City Head Race has certainly been one to remember - hurricane, rain, sunshine, and even some medals. Here are the results:

First off: Masters Men’s Quad with Doug, Miller, Christoph and Liam. Fastest raw and adjusted time meant gold in this event 🥇

U17 2x - the new combination of Martina & Caroline kept their nerves together and raced through high waves and pouring rain. Hitting a bouy couldn’t stop them either - 8th of 16. Looking forward to what’s coming from these two!

Youth Quad with Cara, Dylan, Hazel and Savannah came in 8th in their race. With all of them being U17 that’s a promising result. If coach only managed to enter the right age categories …

Due to the weather, the Youth 2- event was cancelled. Hence, Sarah and Katie had to spend Saturday in the team tent. Thank you for staying positive and supporting your team mates! 💚🤍💙

Masters Men’s 2x - Miller and Christoph came in 5th, Liam and Doug in the same event finished 7th. Way to go, guys!

Parent / Child 2x - Erynn and Greta decided to race this fun event and finished 10th! Great result for your very first race ever, Greta! 🥳

Women’s Junior 2x - Martina and Hazel, both only 13 years old, came in 6th in this event against girls who are up to 4 years older than them. Great job, ladies!

Masters Mixed 2x - Erynn and Doug tackled this event and came in 7th. 🤩

Women’s Youth 4+ - Sarah, Katie, Cara, Dylan and coxswain Savannah were off to great race …

… and came in second! 🥈 Congrats on this success, girls!

Moral of the story: even the worst rain can’t stop us from smiling big smiles! Thanks to everybody who contributed in making this a great weekend of racing despite all the obstacles thrown in our way. There’s more to come this fall!

🏅Virginia Boat Club Sprints 🏅
Great racing day for our masters rowers in Richmond at Virginia Boat Club Sprints!
We had a great day at a great venue AND won some serious bling today, including the Mixed 2x 🥇, Men’s 2x 🥇and Novice 4+ 🥇. The Mixed 8+ and the Mixed 4x crossed the finish line first, too, but the handicap got the better of them.
Special shoutout to our Novice 4+ who took the opportunity to race after completing our Learn To Row weekend only 2 months ago and now winning their race! 💪🏻
Masters rowers now finished their season and will look forward to a summer of easy rowing before we get started in August again and will prepare for head races in fall. Stay tuned for more.
