Like Cracker Jack, tomorrow’s Live Worship Shop House Tour offers a Surprise Inside: little extras to make the day fun. For example:
*The stained glass in one house incorporates symbols to bring good fortune to the people who live there. One window features a ginkgo tree to represent a long life. What symbols can you find?
*One homeowner is using the tour to share his favorite hobby – tinkering with cars. Make sure you check out the driveway.
*The hallway of one home looks like classic black & white tile. Nope. The homeowner painted that floor. That same home has a bathroom with a very unique ceiling.
*At one home, you’ll be greeted by two giant skeletons who entertain their neighbors every Halloween with hilarious hijinks.
*At another stop, you’ll be greeted by the homeowners’ chickens. They are very friendly.
*One property features a bell above the front doorway. Do you know why?
*One house is still a work in progress, but the homeowner has amazing newly installed wainscoting, trim, and pocket doors to show you. That house even has a staged living room, so you can imagine what the finished room may look like someday.
*One place has an amazing lower level filled with recycled items and vintage décor (those vintage Thonet armchairs --attributed to MCM designer Russell Wright -- are for sale online for thousands of dollars each), but the owners got them for free.
*One house has hand-painted fireplace tiles and many hand-painted windows. How many can you find?
And that’s just some of the surprises you’ll find at Saturday’s tour. Buy your ticket now and save time at tomorrow’s registration, located at McGovern Hall/Brother Andre’s (Basement of Assumption Church). Here’s the link:
