Liberty Tree Dedication | Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary
The Lewis & Clark Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is honored to join the St. Clair County Historical Society in hosting a special Liberty Tree Dedication commemorating our nation’s 250th anniversary of independence.
This dedication will honor two Revolutionary War patriots, Roderick Messinger and Matthew Lyon, whose service helped secure the liberties we enjoy today. Their children, John Messinger and Anne Lyon Messinger, are buried at historic Messinger Cemetery, providing a meaningful connection between our nation’s founding and the history of St. Clair County.

As we celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial (1776–2026), this Liberty Tree will serve as a living reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of those who helped establish our nation.
We warmly invite our fellow SAR compatriots, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), local historical organizations, veterans, families, and the entire community to join us for this special occasion.
