I'm not sure we can thank our volunteers and sponsors enough for all their time and donations today.

It was an honor and a pleasure to talk to you today. It's a bittersweet event for us to coordinate and organize. We don't want to have to do it but want to help more than anything provide the mental health help for those who might need it most, if it is needed.

Volunteers who are attending Matt's Dinner in 1 week from today, please try to wear a royal blue shirt, if possible and any LSU shirt if not.

Royal Blue is what Tiger Band Saxophone members wear on this Friday of band camp , as per tradition.
This started back in 2008, the first year after the 2007 National Championship win. There were about 500 prospective members for all about 270 horn spots (55 of the 325 members of Tiger Band are the Golden Girls, Color Guard, and Drum Line that were already selected before band camp started). I was my freshman that year and it was overwhelming. For just the saxophone section, between the 30 or so returning and 25 or so first year students auditioning, they kept 25 members for the saxophone section that year (20 returners and 5 new members). That was the smallest section we ever had that I know of; probably besides the wacky year of 2020, if I have to guess.

Anyway, we decided that we were super smart for all of us to try to wear royal blue on cut day to try and make it as hard as possible for the directors to tell us apart and not cut us to cut more from another section. It didn't really work but we felt good doing it.
