The Forgotten War

The Korean War is often called “The Forgotten War,” but the men and women who served—and the sacrifices they made—must never be forgotten.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial stands as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and perseverance of those who fought in Korea. The 19 stainless-steel soldiers moving through the field represent the diversity of those who served, while the faces etched into the granite remind us that behind every uniform was a son, daughter, husband, wife, father, or friend.

For Honor Flight Louisiana, bringing our veterans to this memorial is about more than visiting a monument. It is about giving them the opportunity to see their service honored, to remember those they served alongside, and to know that their sacrifices mattered.

We remember those who served.
We honor those who sacrificed.
And we will never forget.

When the Lights Go Quiet

At night, the National World War II Memorial takes on a different kind of beauty.

The lights may be dim, the crowds may be gone, and the city may be quiet—but the stories represented here never fade.

Every stone is a reminder of the generation that answered the call when our nation needed them most.

For the veterans who make that journey with Honor Flight Louisiana, standing here is more than seeing a monument. It is remembering friends who never came home, reflecting on a chapter of their lives, and knowing that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At night, the memorial stands quietly illuminated.

But the legacy of the Greatest Generation shines far brighter.

🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
