Louisiana Bankers

Louisiana Bankers LBA provides professional development, revenue-enhancing services & advocacy to Louisiana bankers.

Since 1900, the LBA has remained true to its original mission: government relations. By drafting and supporting legislation, testifying before legislative committees and building constructive coalitions with other industry groups, the LBA plays an important role in developing a legal and regulatory environment that is beneficial to Louisiana banks. The presence of the LBA's government relations te

am at the state capitol and their close working relationship with our congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., means that LBA issues are given the highest priority. Member Involvement
The LBA Government Relations Council involves bankers from all member banks at the grass roots level. GRC members assist the LBA Board of Directors in the development of the Association's positions on important banking issues. Through the LBA State and Federal PACs, Contributions from Louisiana bankers are used to promote policies of free enterprise and job creation. Working With Regulators
The LBA works closely with state and federal regulatory authorities to develop legislation, regulations, and policies that are beneficial to the banking industry. Bank Counsel Section
The LBA Bank Counsel Section consists of bank attorneys, both in-house and outside counsel, who monitor banking laws, make recommendations for changes and assist in drafting new legislation. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
LBA provides legal assistance by filing Amicus Curiae, friend of the court, briefs in significant court actions and providing assistance to members with compliance questions and day-to-day bank operation questions. LBA's two legal reference books are other legal services: Louisiana Banking Laws, which is updated at the end of the state legislative session each year and is an excellent resource for bankers and bank attorneys.; and Louisiana Commercial Laws, which reflects all the latest legislative changes. The book contains Louisiana's enacted version of the Uniform Commercial Code. Communications
From current events, to legislative updates, to information on the latest fraud activity, LBA communications offer Association members a local view of what is going on in the world of banking. The Louisiana Banker, LBA's electronic newsletter, is published once a month and filled with current information on the state and national banking industry. The LBA Government Relations Update, emailed weekly, includes up-to-date information on what is happening at the capitol. Education
LBA's education arm offers a wide variety of services to meet members' specific training needs, including seminars, conferences, in-house programs, educational products and AIB classes. Thousands of bankers attend LBA's workshops and conferences each year, ranging from frontline staff to bank directors. And when a bank wants to bring a program to its offices, LBA has a list of speakers who are available for in-house workshops that can be tailored for each institution. Education Foundation
The Louisiana Bankers Education Foundation, a subsidiary of the Louisiana Bankers Association, exists to promote banking and financial literacy in Louisiana. Louisiana Bankers Education Council administers scholarships to Louisiana high school graduates entering a Louisiana college or university in the field of business and financial literacy programs in Louisiana elementary and high schools. Louisiana Bankers Education Council
The Louisiana Bankers Education Council is a division of the LBA and focuses primarily on educational outreach. A student can benefit from the LBEC services at every step of their education, from elementary school to the time the go to college. The Bank-at-School Program, which is co-sponsored with the State Treasurer, teaches elementary school students about the importance of saving money. Simply Banking Guides are teaching materials on banking that are provided free of charge to Louisiana high schools. Each year, LBEC awards College Freshman Scholarships to outstanding high school graduates who have at least one parent employed by a Louisiana bank and are planning banking-related study at a Louisiana college or university. With the Louisiana JumpStart Coalition, LBEC has joined forces with other organizations in the state to provide quality learning opportunities for Louisiana teachers so that they may be better informed to prepare students for the personal financial decisions the students will make in the future. Products & Services
Prior to endorsing a company, LBA researches other companies that offer the product or service to make sure Association members receive better price, quality and service.

Did someone call, text or email and say you have to pay the government immediately, in a specific way or you’ll be in trouble? That’s a government imposter. No one from the government will ever demand payment only with gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or a payment app. Only a scammer will. https://ow.ly/5OcK50ZcwQq
