Did anyone happen to see last night’s lunar eclipse?

I happened to notice it and snapped a few pics… and when I noticed and my thoughts turned to how difficult it is sometimes to see the brightness of the Light when the world is eclipsed with so much darkness… shadows… lies… retribution… self-aggrandizement… selflessness… meanness… hatred… and the like. Yet the smallest sliver of Light gives rise to hope. Look for that Light and hold on to hope.

“Jesus said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" JN 8:12

DID YOU KNOW that lunar eclipses are referenced in the Bible metaphorically as the "moon turning to blood" and are used as apocalyptic signs or celestial markers for historical events.

Joel 2:31: "The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord arrives."

Acts 2:20: Peter quotes Joel on the Day of Pentecost, repeating the prophecy of the darkened sun and blood-red moon.

Revelation 6:12: During the opening of the sixth seal, "the whole moon turned blood red" alongside a great earthquake and a darkened sun.

Celebrating the Feast of St. James the Greater brought a wonderful surprise!

One of our youth members sketched what she heard during the Gospel reading—a beautiful tradition of hers, I’m told.

What a perfect example of how to "read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest" Holy Scripture. She gifted me the drawing after yesterday’s service, and I can't wait to frame and cherish this "Hazel original"! 🎨⛪

I think I’m going to start making art paper and supplies available to everyone, every Sunday! ♥️

Matthew 20:20-28

The mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, and kneeling before him, she asked a favor of him. And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Declare that these two sons of mine will sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left, this is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”

When the ten heard it, they were angry with the two brothers. But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
