Black mothers deserve to be heard. Supported. Protected. Cared for.

The reality is that Black women continue to face higher rates of maternal health complications, barriers to care, transportation challenges, stress, food insecurity, and being overlooked during one of the most vulnerable seasons of life. That must change — and through Empowered Beginnings, we are committed to being part of that change right here in Bastrop County.

We are honored to see maternal and infant health conversations being elevated in our community and proud to stand alongside partners who understand that healthier mothers create healthier families and stronger communities.

Through Chosen Women Empower’s Empowered Beginnings program, we are currently enrolling Black pregnant mothers in Bastrop County for FREE support services including:

Since she took the helm in 2022, Huston-Tillotson University has advanced measurably in national prominence, fundraising, enrollment strategy, and academic innovation, including expanded international, graduate, and online offerings. Most notably, Huston-Tillotson secured a historic $150 million philanthropic investment from the Moody Foundation—the largest gift in HBCU history—and the top 30 largest gift to any university in the country. Dr. Wallace is widely regarded for her innovation, advocacy on AI use at our nation’s HBCUS, disciplined financial management and strategic ex*****on.

We are incredibly honored to highlight our Aesthetic Glam Girls for the Class of 2026—an inspiring group of young women from Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School who are stepping into this season with confidence, grace, and purpose.

Through our partnership with Bastrop County Cares, we were able to create a meaningful prom dress shopping experience that goes far beyond the moment. This experience is about reminding each young lady that she is seen, valued, and worthy of celebration. It’s about building confidence, creating lasting memories, and empowering her to walk boldly into her future.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing counselors and administrators who continue to support and champion this program. Your dedication and partnership make this impact possible.
