Today, August 27th, is Thoughtful Thursday, part of Be Kind to Humankind Week, created by Lorraine Jara. The day encourages us to slow down, think about how our actions affect others, and intentionally choose kindness and consideration. Thoughtfulness is also an important part of bystander intervention. When we notice someone being left out, treated unfairly, or made uncomfortable, we have the power to do something about it. That could look like checking in with the person, inviting them to join you, speaking up, or getting help from someone you trust. One small, thoughtful action can let someone know they are seen, supported, and not alone.

As we near the end of August, remember to slow down and take some time to reflect on all the changes that it came with, the highs and the lows, the laughs and the hiccups. Take a pause this week and practice a form of self-care that makes you feel your best. Remember that to take care of others, we must first take care of ourselves.

Growth is not linear, and it is not solitary. Nothing helps us more than surrounding ourselves with community. Participating in what brings you the most joy is the best way to find who you truly are.
Taking the time to find community and a support network can make the big bad feel so much smaller, and you learn that you do not have to trek through it alone.

Great leaders create stronger, connected communities. That is what Jairo Morales continues to do for our community. With events like Walk N Talk Bastrop Texas, community socials, and his never-ending forms of community spaces, Jairo has excelled at creating an all ages included community for us all. Walk-N-Talk was created to encourage us all to get outside and create connections with those we haven’t met yet in our community, as we might not know each other as well as we’d ideally like. If you have yet to attend, we encourage you to stop by and see what it’s all about, tonight at 7pm.

When our loved ones are facing struggle, it can be natural to want to provide all the solutions and alleviate the pain. It's important that in these times we remember the sheer impact of being a supporter. Having a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and a heart with space for their grief can be the most helpful thing one person can do in such tumultuous times.

Back again with another B2S reminder 🎒🍎✏️
What happens at home has a BIG impact at school. Here is your reminder to make time to "connect after the bell"- ask about their day, laugh, play a game together, and check in on each other. Simple moments like this help us all feel supported wherever we go!
