What an incredible day. The first annual Bastrop Burger Battle exceeded every expectation, and Fisherman’s Park was alive with energy, competition, and community.

We are so grateful for Mayor Ishmael Harris and Mayor Pro Tem John Kirkland for giving their Saturday to serve as judges, alongside pastors, community leaders, and friends who made up three full judging tables plus our final judge panel. Your presence meant everything.

To our 13 competing teams, watching the passion, creativity, and hard work you brought to that park today was something we will not forget. Every single team showed up and gave it everything.

To our site teams, our event volunteers, our staff, and the Bastrop Area Missions Council, none of this happens without you. You cooked, you served, you greeted, you set up, and you stayed to tear it all down. Thank you.

And to the hundreds of neighbors who came out for a free burger and a beautiful afternoon in the park, we estimated around 800 people who showed today. That is Bastrop showing up for each other.

The first annual Bastrop Burger Battle is about to get started!

Come hang out at Fisherman’s Park from 9-2pm to watch the competitors battle it out.

Our site teams will be serving FREE burgers from 11-1pm, or until they run out.

Tomorrow morning, fifteen teams are loading up grills and showing up to Fisherman's Park ready to cook.

Local restaurants. Church teams. Backyard cooks who have been perfecting their recipe for years. They are all competing in the same place, on the same day, for the same title: Bastrop's Best Burger.

And while they cook, Feed the Need volunteers will be serving free burgers to the community from 11 AM to 1 PM. Pick your ticket up at Registration! *While supplies lasts.

Happy Birthday BJ!🥳🎊

This Tuesday, we celebrated BJ’s 102nd birthday at our Smithville Site!

BJ is one on the last remaining Tuskegee Airmen from World War II. If you would ever like to meet and hear stories from a living legend, come for a visit at 6pm, 203 Miller Street, Smithville, where he will be for “as long as God allows.”
