Bringing home the SLATE!

Lookout Fire Company No. 1’s annual Labor Day Parade is one of the best traditions the Slate Belt has to offer but it helps build our own traditions inside the fire house.

This year we were able to take home:

Best appearing rescue pumper
2nd best appearing tanker

This is only possible by the amount of time and effort our firefighters put in to ensure our apparatus has the best equipment and looks the best it possibly can!

While we regularly maintain all of our apparatus with frequent washing, equipment checks and preventative maintenance, each year we take the time to go through each and every truck with a fine tooth comb (literally some of our guys break out Q-tips!) and look for every little detail to be cleaned, repaired or replaced. This tradition creates so much pride and in turn, keeps our trucks ready to respond when called for.

In total, over 20 members put in a total of roughly 750 man hours just this week to prepare these trucks for judging.

We want to give a special shout out to Engineer Frank B. who led the efforts for rescue pumper 3911 and Captain Logan K. who led the efforts for Tanker 3931!

Big surprise delivered to the station yesterday!

Awhile back we were notified that we were awarded a grant through the Wawa Foundation!

While we may not have a boat we do have plenty of beautiful waterways here in Upper Mount Bethel Township and that’s why it was vital to us that we outfit ourselves with the tools we need to be able to operate from the shorelines while our mutual aid companies are on the water. With that we have purchased new PFD’s, a new medical jump bag and a plethora of rope and rigging equipment as well as a water rescue throw kit which can be utilized quickly and efficiently in areas like Lake Minsi.

Our awesome rep from Firefighter One Kevin McCullough worked with us on this project and we thank him and his team graciously for all the effort they put in!

Our next great fundraiser!

For the first time, The North Bangor Fire Company will be selling T-Shirts for breast cancer awareness!

We've partnered with the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and we'll be donating 50% of all proceeds to this amazing foundation to assist with their efforts in research and legislation throughout Pennsylvania.

A great evening of training for your North Bangor firefighters. This evenings training consisted of interior search for victims. Utilizing our social hall building our firefighters were split into groups and tasked with searching for “victims” in a blacked out and smoked out environment simulating interior fire conditions.

After our hands on training, firefighters gathered around our bay table where we were able to debrief, watch training videos to expand our knowledge and allow our younger members to ask questions to make them better.

Training nights like these allow our firefighters to strengthen their skills, learn new ones and grow as a group.
