🇺🇸 Help Us Honor the Veterans Who Helped Shape America’s Story 🇺🇸

As our nation celebrates America’s 250th Birthday, we’re inviting the Slate Belt community to join us for a special day of recognition, gratitude, and patriotism at Roseto Ballpark on July 18, 2026.

Do you know a veteran whose service deserves to be recognized? We are seeking nominations for:
⭐ Oldest Veteran
⭐ Highest Ranking Veteran
⭐ Longest Serving Veteran
⭐ Youngest Veteran
⭐ Multi-Generational Military Family

This event is about more than honoring the past. It’s about celebrating the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform and inspiring future generations to understand the value of service and sacrifice.

Whether you're a veteran, family member, friend, or neighbor, we encourage you to participate. Submit a nomination, attend the event, and help us ensure that the stories of our local heroes are remembered and celebrated.

📍 Roseto Ballpark
📅 Saturday, July 18, 2026
🕦 Approximately 11:30 AM – 5:00 PM

To nominate a veteran, contact Craig DeFranco at [email protected] and include the veteran’s name, branch of service, years served, and why they should be recognized.

Let’s come together as a community to honor our past veterans, celebrate today’s veterans, and inspire future generations of service and freedom.

On June 6, 1944, ordinary men did the extraordinary. Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy in defense of freedom. Their legacy lives on in every generation that serves. We remember. We honor. We carry forward.

For many aging veterans, the mission now is simple: hold onto dignity, independence, and community. 🇺🇸

Meet “Robert ‘Bob’ Miller” — a representative example of the veterans the SBVA Housing Project hopes to serve.

Bob is a 72-year-old widowed veteran and retired machinist who has spent his entire life in Bangor, Pennsylvania. But as age and service-connected injuries begin catching up with him, the home he once loved is becoming harder to manage every single day.

The stairs hurt.
The snow shoveling is dangerous.
The maintenance never stops.
And the fear of losing independence grows heavier each year.

Like many aging veterans on fixed incomes, Bob faces:
▪️ Rising property taxes
▪️ Expensive home repairs
▪️ Isolation after losing a spouse
▪️ Fear of being forced into a facility that doesn’t understand military life

What does Bob hope for?

✔️ Safe, maintenance-free housing
✔️ A community close to his church and lifelong friends
✔️ Housing that honors his service and sacrifices
✔️ The opportunity to reconnect with fellow veterans and mentor younger generations 🇺🇸

At the Slate Belt Veterans Association, we believe no veteran should spend their final chapters alone, isolated, or struggling in silence.

This Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who never made it home. 🇺🇸

Honor their sacrifice by helping the veterans and military families still fighting battles here at home.

🏠 Every donation helps build accessible housing, stability, and hope for combat-disabled veterans through the SBVA Housing Project.

Freedom was never free.
Neither is the responsibility to care for those who served.

For some military families, the fear of losing housing becomes another invisible wound of war. 🇺🇸

Meet “Sarah Jenkins” — a representative example of the kinds of military families the SBVA Housing Project hopes to support.

Sarah is a 29-year-old wife, mother of two young children, and part-time home health aide living in Northampton County. She is also the primary caregiver for her husband — a combat veteran living with PTSD and physical limitations.

Every day, Sarah balances work, parenting, caregiving, medical appointments, emotional support, and the uncertainty of whether her family will be able to afford to stay in their home.

Their family faces challenges many people never see:

▪️ Rising rental costs across the Lehigh Valley
▪️ Fear of sudden rent increases or displacement
▪️ Lack of quiet, safe environments that don’t trigger PTSD
▪️ The emotional strain of caregiving while raising young children

What does Sarah hope for?

✔️ Stable, affordable housing
✔️ A safe place where her children can play
✔️ A supportive community that understands military life
✔️ Accessible housing that allows her husband to heal with dignity

Because no veteran family should have to choose between healing and having a safe place to live.

Every Memorial Day, we see the red poppy.

A small flower that carries the weight of sacrifice, remembrance, and the lives of those who never made it home.

The poppy became a symbol after World War I, when bright red flowers grew across the battlefields where so many soldiers had fallen. Today, it reminds us that freedom has always come at a cost.

But honoring our fallen heroes cannot stop at remembrance alone.

We must also take care of the veterans who are still here today.

At the Slate Belt Veterans Association, we are building a 32-unit housing community for combat disabled veterans right here in our community. A place where veterans can live safely, affordably, and with dignity.

This Memorial Day, we ask you to stand with us.

Your donation helps us move closer to breaking ground and creating real change for veterans who sacrificed so much for this country.

What legacy will your company leave in the community? 🇺🇸

The Slate Belt Veterans Association is approaching a major milestone — the groundbreaking of the SBVA Housing Project, a first-of-its-kind initiative in our region focused on accessible, affordable housing for combat-disabled veterans and their families.

As we move closer to breaking ground, we are actively seeking Legacy Partners — businesses, organizations, and community leaders who want to make a lasting difference in the lives of veterans throughout the Lehigh Valley and Slate Belt region.

Legacy partnerships can include:
✔️ Corporate sponsorships
✔️ Construction and trade partnerships
✔️ Material or service donations
✔️ Naming opportunities
✔️ Volunteer and employee engagement initiatives
✔️ Long-term community investment collaborations

Your support will help create:
• ADA-accessible housing for disabled veterans
• Safe and stable homes for military families
• Sustainable community-centered development
• Resources that improve long-term mental health and wellness outcomes

The companies that step forward today will become part of a lasting mission that future generations will remember.

📩 We are currently scheduling conversations with potential community and corporate partners. DM me directly if your company would like to explore becoming part of this transformational project.
