As people live longer with HIV, we must rethink what healthy aging looks like.

A new The Lancet HIV Commission on Ageing and HIV brings together global experts to develop an agenda for improving the quality and length of life for people aging with HIV.

We’re proud that Kristen A. Stafford, PhD, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, contributed to this important international effort.

The Commission estimates that by 2040, more than 20 million people living with HIV will be over age 50, making healthy aging an increasingly important part of the global HIV response.

We celebrate 🎉 Chiti Bwalya, MPH, on the completion of his PhD at the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Bwalya is a Zambian social scientist who completed his studies under the ZENITH D43 training grant in implementation science.

His mentors include Kirsten Stoebenau, PhD (UMCP) and Cassidy Claassen, MD, MPH Ciheb-Zambia Director of Research and the Interim Director of Institute of Human Virology Man Charurat, PhD, MHS.
