Three of our Local 655 stewards, Sarah Doggendorf, Susan Duvall, and Tony Scoggin recently had the opportunity to attend UFCW Union PowerCamp, a development program designed to give union partners the skills and knowledge to become stronger leaders in their workplaces and communities.
 
During PowerCamp, they learned more about the history of the UFCW and the labor movement, the fundamentals of organizing, and what it takes to build support and move an organizing campaign forward. They also developed hands-on skills in partner support, steward responsibilities, bargaining, and helping their coworkers become more involved in their union.
 
Most importantly, they came away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be a steward and the role they play in making sure their coworkers have a strong voice at work.
 
We’re proud of these three partners for investing their time and energy into becoming stronger leaders. What they learned at PowerCamp doesn’t just stay with them. They bring that knowledge back to their workplaces and share it with the partners they represent.
 
When our partners grow, our union grows. Together We Rise.

⚠️ Important Election Information

Mail ballots will be sent via USPS on Friday, August 28th. Please check your mailboxes daily to ensure you received your ballot.
 
Ballots must be mailed back in order to be RECEIVED at the post office no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) on September 18, 2026.

At 1:30 p.m. on September 18, 2026, the Election General Chairperson and election judges shall open and tabulate the ballots.

Due to the processing speeds of the post office, it is important to mail your ballot in a timely manner to ensure delivery by the 12:00pm deadline.
 
Any questions regarding nominations, replacement ballot requests, and the election should be referred to Maria Davenport, Local 655 Election General Chairperson, at 636-736-2724

Super Steward Michelle Jones said it best: “To participate is to know how big of a representation you are inside the store.”
 
Shop Stewards are an integral part of our union. They are the one partners can turn to right there in their own workplace when they have a question, need guidance, or want to better understand their rights. 

Of course, our reps are available to answer a partner’s call or text, but there is something powerful about being able to walk up to a well-educated, prepared Steward and get an answer right then and there. That’s what being a Steward is all about: being present, being informed, and being a voice for your coworkers.

If you’re interested in becoming a Steward or participating in our Super Steward program, reach out to your rep so they can talk you through the process.

Last month Tom celebrated retirement after 45 years of working at Schnucks. During his decades long career he was able to build a family and a wonderful life thanks to his hard work and the support of Local 655.

Tom’s 45 years are a great reminder of what our mission is: good jobs that allow working people to build a good life and retire with dignity.

This is a notice to all Local 655 partners:

As of today, Monday, August 17th, 2026, the election for President and Executive Board of Local 655 has officially started.

This notice is to inform all partners that all official UFCW Local 655 social media accounts will only post content about partners and official Local business. There will be NO election content posted other than election dates and deadlines.

We will also remove any comments about the candidates or the election unless they pertain strictly to dates and deadlines.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we fulfill our duty to ensure this is a fair and equal election.

Ballots will start being mailed out on August 28th. Please check your mail and return your completed ballot as soon as possible to ensure every partner’s vote is counted on time.
