Our new logo is making its way around the stores!

To celebrate the launch of our new logo and motto, President Kelley has been bringing along photo props featuring both our classic blue-and-yellow logo and our Pride version.

Our family at Schnucks O’Fallon had a great time adding them to their photos with President Kelley. We love seeing partners show their Local 655 pride and celebrate this exciting new chapter with us!

Mike, where do we even begin?

Over the last 11 years, your dedication to UFCW Local 655 has left a mark that won’t soon be forgotten. Whether it was keeping us laughing with one of your many stories or breaking down the inner workings of state government in a way only you could, you always gave people a reason to stop, listen, and stay awhile. And let’s be honest… once Mike started talking, nobody was leaving anytime soon.

Beyond the halls of Local 655, the partners you represented will feel your absence just as deeply. While you’ve helped train Sean to step into the role and continue the work, there’s no replacing the relationships, wisdom, and presence you brought to this union every single day.

Mike, thank you for your years of service, your loyalty, your humor, and the countless ways you showed up for our partners and this union.

Cheers to you, dear brother. May your next chapter be every bit as rewarding as the career you built, and enjoy those SEVEN pensions you earned. Congratulations! Enjoy a well-earned retirement!

Today, we remember those who gave their lives for our rights and freedom; without them, we, the union, would not exist. They fought to ensure our voices would be heard and our people protected. Thank you to all who have served. We honor you today and every day.

This week, two of our amazing reps (Amy and Prudence) went to the UFCW Women’s Network 16th Biennial Convention in Montreal. This year’s theme was Agents of Change - Voices of Power. We asked them what their biggest takeaways were, and this is what they had to say:

“My favorite breakout session covered bystander intervention and the steps we need to ensure we are taking if we see one of our partners at risk in the workplace. These conferences are truly where we create agents of change and voices of power.” - Amy

“Many of the women who are heads of labor organizations had a similar path to Amy and me. They started working in the stores, became stewards, got on staff at a local, and started attending conferences and getting involved. They all reiterated that women should claim their space, let their voices be heard, and not shrink themselves in a male-dominated world. Seeing that most of them started where our partners are today really shows how hardworking and dedicated they are, and that any woman in the UFCW can be on that stage if they work towards that.” - Prudence

Not only did they learn from some of the top voices in our union, but they also had the opportunity to spend time with our UFCW Region 6 Director, Rachelle Netzer, and the President of UFCW International, Milton Jones. We’re so proud of these two incredible women for ensuring the partners of Local 655 have a voice at the international level.

Last week, President Kelley was with about 100 of our Local 655 partners for the steward seminar, but this week she’s back visiting the shops, and judging by the smiles from the partners at Cottleville Schnucks, everyone is glad she’s back!
